Went to bring the Disco in last night (quiet street, never a problem) got in, heard a strange noise, got out to have a look and was shocked, someone had smashed the RH rear window.

Will cost just over $400 .

Not nice

Harold Scruby's cousin just move into your street

Very sorry it happened to you, over the years also in a quite street have lost a car (company Ford) and an odd side mirror (sons car in street).

My boss years ago lost a Merc mirror parked outside office cost $1800, they actualy caught the kids let them go on the spot as they were indiginous, coppers said waste of time holding them

Cheers

Unfortunatley a common occurence over here these days. Little buggers smashed my window when 162 others in about 1 hour a year or so ago.... coppers caught them with about $200 in change and about 140 CD's. 1 had just got out of a detention centre the day before, the other it was a first conviction so he got a bond.
Cost me about $400 plus all my CD's and about $30 in small change(couldn't positively identify them so I couldn't claim them back!). You do the sums as to the total damage and you'll feel as angry as i was at the time

Wardy, thats how they caught these young fellas, by the time they went the full length of Shepherd St Chippendale (not far from Redfern) & no idea how many cars, they got them at the end waiting for them, and we
were told they just let them go. The 11 years I worked out of that office there were many other horror stories similar that left us speechless.

Cheers

I worked just around the corner from you in what is now the Telstra building on Broadway. I managed the place for a while when it was an OTC building. I first worked there when it opened in 1972 and last worked there in about 1996.

When I first started working there, I'd walk from Redfern station - but not in later years.

Sorry to hear the bad news.
They used to do the rounds of the parking lots at work
We finnaly got security after one block disturbed them raiding his car during the day and was serverly bashed. He was found 2 hours later as all windows in the building had to have the blinds closed after september 11.
A mate at uni got a full city block run up and just sholder charged the guy doing his car over. The little sob was still winded when the cops arived. There comment was " good on you. Make sure your not seen next time you do that to them or whe are forced to charge you."

No, I think the glass crazed but didn't fall apart until I opened the door.

I don't think they were trying to steal anything just malicious damage.

And your right, I'm normally a placid person but if I caught anyone damaging my property or stealing from it I would end up in jail :!:

One word for people like this:
 W@NKERS!!!

Sorry, but even had my driver's side window smashed on Fathers Day last year!!
But, i was the lucky one in our street......Looked like someone had used a shotgun to blast holes all over some of cars in our street that night. Cops came in the morning assessed everything said the mongrels had used several large screwdrivers to punch holes in everything and I (luckily) was only up for $110 for a replacement window which i installed the next day myself!

As i said I was lucky - as 7 other cars in the street had EVERY panel damaged and all windows smashed too....

(Cops seemed to think that because the little Suzi's Window shattered - going all over the road in the dead of night - that the noise would have scared them off)

My car WAS the last one (or the 1st one) to have been set upon - i think it was the last car I've heard my window shatter before (long story  ) -But, it IS quite loud, so in the dead of night - i cant believe I didnt hear it....

Sorry to hear that mate - never a nice thing - NEVER!

Cheers

Makes you wonder what they have got for brains, doing things like that. I doubt if they have ever been used. A good hiding might get their brains working, but is the effort worth it?? For stress release I think it would be great.

Hi Richard
If you have "windscreen coverage" you should be OK,all windows are "windscreens"!!!!!I had a drivers side window covered by the free windscreen policy on the Trytoo that I got with a whiper sniper propelled gravel stone.

All this type of activity accelerated when corporal punishment in schools was outlawed, and society & the law in relation to these little sods, gave them a clear message you now have nothing to fear, go ahead and reap havoc
