Alternator capacity

I have a traxide Usi-160 in the D3 (4lt petrol) and would like to know if the alternator can cope with supplying charge to my van batteries.
The D3 has a 65ah second battery and I have a rear Anderson connection (6b&s) for connecting to the van which also has 6b&s direct to its batteries. Van batteries are 3x120ah. I may in the future add another 100 or 120 battery.
Most times the batteries just need a top up but I'm sure there will be times when I run them down to 50%.

but then D2's charge constantly.
Do D3's charge funny like the D4's?

Hi Ashes, your D3 has a 140 amp alternator and this is more than adequate to charge all your batteries, even if they are all in a low state of charge.

You can also add as many batteries to your setup as you need.

Even with the variable voltage operation of both the D3 and the D4 ( and the new Range Rovers and Range Rover Sports ), because of the way my isolators work, if the batteries are low, the BMS in all these vehicles run the alternator at a higher voltage for longer.

Just make sure you operate the USI-160 in SHARED Mode, with the switch set away from the LED.

Just had mine replaced (for peace of mind) and it quotes 150A on the Denso box. Replacement is for a D4 2.7.

I charge up to 4 batteries from the 101 when driving - and that's only got a 35 amp alternator - you can hear it howl when the batteries are down a bit. :D

You'll be fine.
