A filthy spare rim ..
Seriously... I bought 5 x 19" Duratracs this morning, will be very interesting to see how well they compare to the 16" version I had on the D2...

Nice.
Are they from a local seller or an online seller???
I was looking at the US Goodyear site today, there is a 255/70r18LT available there.
Ive used Goodyears since a short crack on Coopers(vowed never again) for years, always had a good run.We have been using the silent armour tyres on a 4x4 crew cab at work, they seem to go well on a 50/50 sealed unsealed roads.

Local, I got them from Highway tyres around the corner for $380 a tyre fitted.
Ideally I'd like to go 18's... but the budget doesn't stretch to 6 x compomotives plus tyres right now...

Im hoping my originals hang in there as I want to go 18" on the next tyre swap.
They are wearing really well, still look new at 23000km.Wouldnt have worm 1/4 off them yet.
Must be my grandpa driving style.

Looks good Mark and that is an excellent price.
Dad was recently quoted much more than that in Brisbane and then couldn't get them.
Did you have them on order long?

4 days....
They could have done it a day or two quicker.. I just couldn't get back there.
I first found them at a reasonable price on here: https://www.tyresales.com.au (https://www.tyresales.com.au/)
I realised that one of the companies that they use near me to fit them is Highway tyres.... so I just went up there to see what price I got direct... ;)

Got them.
LOVE them.
We did the same track (Bridal Track) as last year, and this year, I could just feel the car did it so much easier. NO slipping, and it just felt really sure footed everywhere.
On top of that, they helped take out 1st place over the trails track at Melrose.
They are a very small tad noisier on the road, but you can only really tell when the radio isnt playing, and the kids shut up. Neither of which really happens in my car... ;)
So, early days, but so far, so good. :D

I'm getting six fitted tomorrow at Bob Janes.
$375 each.
I was quoted $350 else where but then said they couldn't get them.
I've painted six RRS wheels to match door handles.
Hard to get match exact metallic finish.
Still waiting for bloody roof rack from Rhino.

Does anybody know if any other US available size Duratracs are getting imported???
My local Beaurepairs tell me that 255/55R19 tyres arent even available in WA.I told them they are, they never got back to me.
See these sizes Duratrac 18 at Tire Rack (http://tires.tirerack.com/tires/Duratrac%2018)

My tyre guy in Bunno said he can get Duratracs Andrew. My tyres have done 56k km and are barely legal. I'll be seeing him and probably ordering this week.

I went straight to the Goodyear dealer, and he checked their network to find mine.
Given that they were offering 4 for the price of 3, I couldn't find a better deal anywhere.

I was in Bunbury today.
Was a quick trip to Westrac to get some CAT coolant.Split a steel coolant pipe late friday, just got it ordered in time for a niteroad delivery saturday.Got back to the depot. Some clown put an empty drum back on the shelf so instead of what we thought was 30lt of coolant in stock we had 10:(:(:(:(:(
Nice day for a drive. My CAT rep offered to take me downtown for lunch, unfortunately I had to get back to Williams ASAP.

Chris maybe try what I did.... jump on the Tyresales site (https://www.tyresales.com.au/buy/tyre/goodyear/wrangler_duratrac/255-55r19/106594?q=4#moreinfo):
Click the green "Choose Fitment Centre" button and take a look at who they use to fit tyres near you.
Then contact those places direct and ask for a quote - worked out well for me;)

If Tempe or other online places still have them, maybe consider just getting them sent and locally fitted. Some places might get a little touchy about it, but I went somewhere that didn't do Goodyear and understood there aren't a lot of options for AT's in 19" so were cool with it.
I got 6x fitted and balanced including removing the old ones for $150.

I noticed these where the same tyres that were fitted to the 4x4 Magazine Great Australian Bite expedition I watched last night that Landrover Australia had fitted to the 2 x TDV6s they had on the expedition. They seemed to have quite a few punctures more than the tojos on the tour.
Are they any better on the Sand than the standard tyres?
Heres the link to the video (worth watching) as shown on another thread
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQCoKBCiayA
They also seem to have some fancy program for the the DRL's on these vehicles too.
LandyAndy
12th April 2016, 05:46 PM
I think the issue with the flat tyres on the D4 is simply the size not the brand. At 15psi the tyre is very flat and you have to be very careful not to damage the sidewalls. The majority of punctures in that video were sidewall damage.
The "special" program for the DRLs.Just like these 2;);););)

Its the rate at which the LEDs "update",when I took the pic I could see the lights "winking" on the display of my tablet;););););)

There were 21 duratracs available on tyresales last night, but at no real discount from what I could get locally. There were none in WA.
Anyway, I ordered some hankooks today. Cheaper and readily available in WA. There is no point having a tyre model that if I was to stuff one, I would have to wait weeks for a replacement tyre.

Hey Rhinosm, nice looking wheel spray. did you have the colour code or name for that paint? And where did you get them done? How much? Cheers

Hi Hoss
I removed the passenger door handle piece to use to color match.
There was a color name for it but I couldn't find it in our paint system
I had them painted at my work, perks of the job.

Having seen a bit of talk about the Maxxis LT AT's recently I thought I'd post an update on my Goodyears given I did a rotation yesterday. They are now 23,000km into our trip since leaving Perth, with a mix of roughly 70% towing our 3.1T van, 30% without. Approx 4000km on dirt in a mix of towing and not, and only recently some sand work too.
In short, I am stoked with them!!! Having completed some infamous tyre destroying terrain on the Gibb and Cape York we have (touch wood) not had one flat.
My loose rule of thumb on cold pressures has been 38F/42R on road, and 28F/32R on long dirt section. They usually heat up about 8PSI according to my TPMS.
They are now starting to look a little chopped up (especially since the Cape) and I would say are at about 40% tread, but with the 2 virtually new spares now on the front and others rotating on the back, we should hopefully make it the next ~20,000km home.
Road noise... no marked difference from the day I fitted them, ever so slight noise that can only be heard without the roof rack on which is just a little louder.
Grip wet/dry/dirt all feel the same as the day they were fitted. Brilliant off-road, only slightly worse than the factory Wranglers on-road.
In summary, they may not be LT rated, but for me, they have been awesome so far!
Here's a pic of the ones that were on the front (now rear) at 23,000km
