GOE have put together a 15-day tag-along trip from Uluru to Broome via the Bungles and Gibb starting July 19 - anyone on the forum had a look at this?

Chris all I have to do is say 'Broome' and Michelle is there with bells on. Umbrella drinks at the Sunset Bar overlooking Cable Beach etc etc...
I pitched the trip tonight..."so, to get to Broome we have to drive to Ayers Rock, then up the Tanami Track, via the Bungles and El Questro, a dodgy bush camp somewhere off the Gibb, then Cape Leveque...sign me up!"
Am seriously looking at this trip. Researching hire camper trailers etc...

It's been 15 years since I was up there. I would love another trip. But no chance for me unfortunately.

What's happened to your planned trip to the corner this year Chris?

Well, a timely question Greg, as of this morning I may have a lot more flexibility on all fronts - Linc Energy Limited (where I am CFO) has gone into Voluntary Administration this morning....so, depending on whether a Plan can be implemented to restructure in the next month or two I may have a lot of time to spare mid year :(
Looking positively, that does mean a corner country or other mid year Trip is looking well and truly on the cards!;)

Chris that's either terrible news or really good news, depending on your point of view I guess. Seems like businesses big and small and falling over like nine pins all over the country.
So if it can't be salvaged, will you stay in Brissie or move back this way?
Re the GOE trip I'm just doing some numbers to see if it's affordable. Going to cost a bomb if I have to hire a camper trailer and tow it 10,000km...I reckon it's at least a $7,000 exercise all up, Perth-Uluru-Broome-Perth.

Hi Guys,
Over in the caravans etc for sale section I have listed my Off Road camper trailer. Perfect for a trip such as this, In fact it has done everything mentioned in the itinerary (and much more), except the Munja. However as it has great ground clearance and very strongly built there is no doubt in my mind that it will go anywhere a well equipped 4WD will go. Apart from shocker replacement it has never given me a problem.

Thanks Peter - looks like a tough rig. I would buy a camper trailer in a heartbeat, if I had anywhere to store it for 11 months of the year:-)

Hi Greg, sorry, tardy in my response (a tad distracted!).
At this stage we are aiming to stay in Brissie until kids finish high school, might look at other options post that time. I'd be keen to do the GOE trip, with a hired Camper (you can hire excellent Kimberley Kampers - Platinum edition - here in Brisbane) but I need to see where next few weeks take me work wise. To be honest I really should be focussed on the next (work) role rather than Outback Treks. Private school fee invoices do tend to bring one's attention back to reality (from Outback dreaming...)
cheers

Yeah I get it. Private school fees tend to be a focusing experience:-)
