shock replacement with EAS

Gentlemen,and Ladies,
the OEM shocks on my 95 Classic with EAS are starting to make rattling noises, time for replacement. I have looked at previous posts and the choice seems to be, Boge, Bilstein or Koni. I have been keen on Koni but I can't find product number information online. Does anyone here know the product number for front and rear?

IMHO, the air-bagged Rangie is a firmer/harsher ride than coily-thingies of previous models... and Koni etc may well give you an even less luxurious experience.

This is, I'm told, due to the odd bound/re-bound characteristics of airbags compared to springs... so a set of OEM would be the safest....

But.... lots of folk get along with aftermarket (from the UK) and even Big Brands...if you need that kind of control.

Have you had a close look at the rubber mounts at BOTH ends ?

Also, a good excuse to investigate the rest of your suspension rubbers .:o

But I like Bessie 'cos she has a real engine that pulls like a trooper up any hill... and makes mine look ..... and an extra 8" wheelbase...

Be interesting to see if they're set to 'Firm' or 'Luxo-barge'

She's made some new friends where she's been holidaying, so might not want to come home !!! :p:p:p

I have recently been through the same research exercise for my LSE.

OEM is definitely the way to go for shocks and these are available from Landrover dealers for a tad over $100 each.

I had the koni heavy track on my 93 eas, they were fantastic!
Firm but not rough, unlike the bilstiens which were rubbish.

Thanks for all your comments. I am leaning towards Boge, Koni would be my first choice but at around $1000 for 4 against $360 for Boge, I am going with my pocket. From all that I have read and heard, Bilsteins really don't work with EAS as they make the ride even more harsh. Thanks again for the help.

get your shocks from someone like roverlord, much cheaper.

I have just replaced all 4 on my 94se, it had bilsteins which were horrible and hard, it had koni's on it when I bought it, which weren't much better, but the koni adjustables I had on the P38 were just fantastic? Its made a noticeable pleasing difference putting boges on it, but its still not the brick ontop a big pillow feel that the coil rangies have.
