Hi Guys
I saw the ultimate "go anywhere Disco" today, well a Disco should be able to go anywhere, this one had the added advantage of railway wheels added so it can travel on railway tracks aswell.
When I spotted it I remembered having seen an article in "Landrover Experience"I just had a look and found it.I will get on to Phoenix, and submit a copy for the next newsletter.

We have Defender 130s like that at work. I deal with the crews every week. They are often in my workplace and I can easily get some photos if anyone is interested.

The crews hate them. The much prefer their previous LC 75 Series.

On tracks beside the raliway line they say the Defender has a far more comfortable ride in but on track, they are gutless. They have a lot of weight inside them plus all the extra running gear front and back. But I suspect the problem is that they have to travel at low speed whilst doing their track patrols. They do it in high range and a mid gear. I wonder how the turbo is going at the speed they are driving?

I have just fitted a boost gauge into my Defender to let me see whats happening when towing the caravan. I have relocated the fuel gauge.

Now from left to right I have the speedo, tacho, boost gauge, water temp.
All the important bits! No I have not fitted an EGT gauge. Yet!

The boost gauge is the same style as the Defender gauges except for a red pointer. The Bezel is identical in shape and colour.

I thought 17 psi. read it somewhere. Its it not connected to the ECU so not chip related. I will talk to my LR dealer and get a number form them.

Cheers.

I'm trying to work out what the last three posts have got to do with the initial post about the HiRail (or HyRail)

My fault. You had a comment re wondering about the turbo on the Disco and what it was doing.

I had just fitted a boost gauge and it went from there.

I saw a Hyrail Defender 130 on the Tom Price - Dampier track. It was a highlight of the trip. Alas I did not get a digital photo of it but I think my friends did.
