I don't know D2 prices, but pretty cheap compared to a 110 equivalent.

JC It's hard to tell people, they see the $ and all logic goes out the window, it's only when the get burnt.
Just like all those cheap starter motors on ebay for TD5s, $120 -200, 2 year warranty they claimed! Where are all those fly by nighters now? they are no longer advertising them on ebay, I wonder how people are going about warranties?

Agree 100%. Its ALL about the lowest price these days for some 😠. I'm introducing a policy of no warranty on any part of a job where the customer supplies the parts. I have been holding off on doing this for a long time but with the now huge amount of rubbish parts floating around the internet these days it has to happen.

Justin ,sometimes it's better to "lose the business' and be able to sleep well, than to do the job and put up with the complaints. We got burnt on some Britpart Mafs, a customer asked for them as company X was selling them. We got some in and all came back for warranties. I still see them being advertised by some,so we lose sales on a price point, but the others can have the hassels, I say good luck to them.
We also had a problem with O.E.M TD5 Engine mounts, got them in due to a price point for a customer, 10,000kms later they were stuffed. Returned under warrnaty and supplier said "oh we usually sell them for car yards for RWCs." I'll stick to selling stuff that doesn't come back to bite me in the bum.
Cheers,
Mario

I am a bit surprised at the reaction to this post, seeing that there have been numerous posts on the shortcomings of Tom Woods shafts and other expensive brands. There is one thread current right now.
I cannot see the extra money in these shafts. How much extra does it cost to add 1 UJ and the yolk? $50 ? $100>? , yet the prices charged are astronomical for stuff that seems pretty ordinary.
The shaft on Ebay has teflon coated splines and more importantly greasable UJs. IMHO nearly all UJ failures are from water entry/lubrication failure of the UJ. there is virtually no other failure mode that I have seen.
So If you keep grease up to the UJs regularly , these would probably be as long lasting as any, eg a Tom Woods where the grease is not kept up to.
If the sprung ball died you would get ample warning from vibes, but in EVERY case of disintegration I have seen it has been a dry UJ that has flogged its way out of the yolk , and caused the catastrophic break up.
I recall many many years ago I borrowed a sailing boat on a trailer to take to Lake Eildon from Melbourne. When I went to move the trailer it virtually would not move the bearings were so stuffed. I was unwilling to buy a new set of bearings for one weekend so I just freed them up and greased them heavily. They got there and back. The grease is the key!
Even the photo of the Bailey whatever shaft shows "rust" on the yolk which is disintegrated rollers from the UJ which have run dry of grease.

What's wrong with replacing the unis in your existing shafts with greasable ones before the standard unis fail, then they can be greased and save the heartache of exploded shafts. Consider it as preventative maintenance

I totally agree Mario. Replacement is just for when the shaft yoke is damaged.
It always seems to me that people who choose to spend $700plus on a "sexy" driveshaft have lots more money than me.
The kit you sell is quite adequate unless you have a 4 inch lift and the standard shaft has angles greater than its yoke will take or they have neglected maintenance so much that the UJ cross is on its way out of the yoke on the shaft itself ( as its cheap and easy to replace the flange and the central yoke comes with the kit) .
To me the noise and vibration must be so horrendous by that stage that you would have to be er "rather mechanically unsympathetic" to ignore it.

I am looking at a new front shaft. I have been chasing a vibration for a while and i am happy to the Hardy Spicer recoed one come out and a new one go in. It has been recoed twice over its life. They say it balances up right but after 300,000 and a lift i am not so sure. The problem as i see it with the Woods or BP Utah shafts are that they are great gear and in the case of Tom's gear the shaft is made to measure for your specific vehicle which os great for lifts from time to time you hear of an alleged balance issue...you then have to return overseas (although not if you buy it from the Jeep place). Tom's customer service is excellent. If I could get made to measure new (from scratch - shaft and yoke) strong shafts with wider open Greasable unis I would.
Cheers

As soon as you see greasable cap UNI's, run. = CRAP!
(Unless of course they're positively massive and every cap is individiually greased).
