I got annoyed that the dumb placement of the reverse camera meant I couldn't see the towbar, and got more annoyed at taking chips out of the bumper when backing up to trailers.
Solution: a $200 wireless reversing camera from Jaycar, tucked under the license plate, and a screen mounted on the dash. Works fine.
Wonder if later model full fats and Sports have fixed this silly issue?

i just go by feel, and experience:p:DMe too - feel the bump and know from experience that the coupling has hit the bumper again!

I've bought a camera that I hope to connect to the OEM wiring instead of the misplaced original.

Where and how did you mount the display?

Get a piece of carpet or rubber, tuck it under the tail gate, drape it over the rear bumper a couple foot either side of the tow ball. When you finish lay it flat onthe cargo area.

It comes with a suction cup bracket Graeme, sits on top of the dash with the suction cup stuck to the windscreen. Looks a bit naff, but it's the best I could do without stuffing around with the car's internal wiring.

Problem fixed on my 2015 L405, I can even line up the Treg coupling and the pin goes straight in !
