... and now tries to make amends.

Where did he try to make amends?
All he said was that they were classic pieces of art that were unreliable. So not only has he now upset Defender people he's added Range Rover, Aston Martin and Lotus.
Note that it appears he has bought them all second hand.

He sold the RRC because a piece of plastic broke off and lodged in the shifter - he must be pretty useless to have that strand him - he deserves it.
He should buy a 101 - most reliable vehicle I've owned. The most unreliable has been the L322, so he's not completely wrong... :D

He has written some interesting articles about the Vantage he bought. He was able to pick up a 2007 model in the US for $45,000 including an Aston Martin Assured Premium UNLIMITED MILEAGE bumper to bumper warranty. Apparently the warranty has already paid for itself...

Just another Clarkson wannabe who lacks the talent and has no real idea about the vehicle he is writing about.

If you take the AL out of JALOPNIK, You Get JOPNIK, which is Russian for silly Bugger, to put it politely.
I think that anything this bloke writes (given his self effacing title) would have to be taken as tongue in cheek.

Yep, definitely tongue in cheek. I actually liked the original video, and the apology was funny too.

I actually was quite amused by it. My wife caught the back end and laughed ... which is probably what everyone that is upset about it should concentrate on. ie we are cool and we don't care what anyone thinks!
