Replaced leaking core plug yesterday and like all naughty boys, I had to stick my finger in the hole. I found quite a bit of muck below the hole and am wondering how much scum is sitting in the block. Anyone have a good idea how best to flush the block?

Our local radiator specialist suggests to disconnect top & bottom hoses from the radiator, & then with the garden hose nozzle & a compressed air source taped together & inserted in the top hose just give it a good flush/blast. Amazing the amount of debris that comes out, & eventually just nice clean water.

put in a chemical flush to loosen everything up.

then remove the hoses from the radiator and use a flushing gun. then do the same on the raditor after you swap the hoses from the block to the radiator.

be prepared you're going to leave rust stains so on a slope of about 3 degrees lay down a large tarp, then a hep of old carpet covered with hessian bags of some type or other. then park at the top. Prop the bottom and edges up on some bricks or similar so it catches all the run off, let it settle then syphon it out from the top down. you can either then wash the matting off in a public car wash or if you have a workshop washing machine in that.
