Daft question, what tyre size fits the original steel wheels on a 2a

There are two original wheels - with either 5.0" or 5.5" rims.

The narrower ones were standard on 88" (swb) vehicles, and came fitted with either 6.00, 6.50, or occasionally 7.00 tyres.

The wider rimmed wheels were standard on 109 (lwb) and optional on swb, and came fitted with 7.50 tyres.

(FC Series 2a had 6" rims and were fitted with 9.00 tyres. These wheels were an option with normal control Landrovers for 9.00 sand tyres, but these wheels are very rare.)

From outside to outside they measure just over 6 inch, so what do I say to the tyre company when I order them?

There will be a part number stamped on the wheel centre near the wheel stud holes. Prob about 6 figures long. Google this part number to give you the wheel width.
