D4 red or black version - opinions?

So I have a D3 and, like many, really like the look of the D4 lights and their LED goodness.

I have a black D3.

What are peoples' thoughts on either the earlier red versions, or the later black Surround? I've attached a few pictures for reference.

I originally liked the black better, but then started second guessing myself and wasn't sure if it was too much black on black...
Both are similar prices so I still can't decide

Black, then get some 22s for on road and you hve the ultimate gangster 4x4.

That's what we figured out our d4 is missing. The D3 we had was so gangster I felt like carrying around a machine gun!

Awkward. The 22s are actually in the garage. Seriously!

Might have to bring them out, get the taillights, then put the llams on low and then use low suspension mode! Haha

Was fricking spewing when they wrote our d3 off and i didn't get a chance to swap over the 22s that were on it. All $4k worth.. or the cargo, barrier rubber floor mats. Anyway do it! Hha its the only 4x4 that you can go from gangster to fully offroad capability with the flick of a switch and a wheel changeover.

Just a guy driving around on Fraser Island with a set of these on his RRS. Unfortunately for him it didn't end so well. Flat tyre after a root pinched the sidewall.

Timmy - if you don't have, maybe get dark tint as well to accompany the black lights. That will complete the gangster look! We go from off-road to gangster after each 4wd outing just by passing through the car wash. :)

It's a recovery offroad hitch. I believe it's the same as a Mitch hitch, was on the car when I bought it!

I think the black versions totally suit the black paintwork. I'm not so keen on them on other colours, I think the red works better.
