View Full Version : The Plan for the Weekend- Ace's BBQ.
Ace
26th September 2005, 07:23 PM
Hi all, for those who are coming on the weekend here is the final plan.
The aim is to have everyone arrive between 11-12 on saturday, have an hour to socialise and then head out behind Zig Zag at about 12:30-1:00pm. The come back when we are ready, have dinner and light the bonfire.
On sunday we are doing a day trip around the tracks behind Lake Lyall. We start just down the road from my place and head in on some pretty easy track into the state forrests, where the tracks get good. The good thing about this area is that there are alot of side tracks which we can stop and some of the guys looking for the harder stiff can have a go, but the beginners can sit it out and watch (for those looking for hard core off roading, you can have it, but we need to remember that some people have long trips back and some are only new to the who Land Rover thing), there are heaps of good creek crossing and there should be some mud to keep hiline happy when we take an our or so to play in lake lyall. The we head out along Cox River and come out where we went in, we will need to start at about 8:30-9:00am to make sure we have time to get everyone through and still have time to enjoy some challenging stuff.
On Monday, we can do a short trip through Ben Bullen State Forrest and anyone wanting to head home can do so, then we can have some lunch and every one can head off. Mat

Ok, directions- for those of you who need them.
For the Vic guys first (or anyone coming from Bathurst direction)- follow the Lithgow signs through bathurst and head towards lithgow on the highway. Keep going until you pass a major turn off (to the left) to Wallerawang where you can see Lake Wallace on the left hand side continue up the hill towards lithgow (dont turn left into wang) about a km or so up the hill (maybe less) there is a right hand turn into gemalong close, turn in here, you then go about 20m and come to another T-intersection where you can turn onto the old highway (now gemalong close) turn left here and head in the lithgow direction, follow this all the way to the end, my house is the last house.
For the Sydney guys- once throught lithgow head towards bathurst on the main highway, keep going until you pass the Jail on your right, a little further on is an overpass (which goes to mudgee) go under this and into the 110km/h speed zone, one into the 110 zone there will be a left turn for buses only, go past this and take the next left, then follow the directions above from the go about 20m bit.
If anyone gets lost my mobile number is 0428969828, its pretty easy to find.
Ok, a change of plans, no 4wding on the saturday arvo, we will leave that for the Sunday and the monday if anyone wants to. matt

That intially was the plan Baz, but we will have to many vehicles, there just isnt enough room for us all down there.
The new plan is as above, this allows for more vehicles and means we will get more 4wding in on the sunday.
If anyone wants to go for a run on the saturday for a couple of hours before dinner we can, as Scouse said it isnt to far away so there will be time for socialising first. We can wait and see how everyone feels. Matt

Can I come on Monday morning or very late Sunday night? Sunday would be better - I'm sure to get there. If I leave it until Monday, I probably won't get there at all.

Was a top weekend Gav, it was disapointing you couldnt make it, next time hey. The turn out was about half what it was a couple of months ago, something like 30 members originally comitted to coming, but never PM'd me when I asked for confirmations. We had 15 vehicles on the sunday trip, 2 or three arent forum members but that didnt matter, one of them was in a Range Rover Sport so we didnt mind his company. I will get my photos on when i can. Ben, a good mild cut and wax style polish is a good one (ie) turtle wax in the green bottle is good, or take it to a professional detailer

Be careful though ben, some cut and polish shouldnt be used on metallic paint, check with Land Rover first and see what they recommend.
No worries Hiline, I am up for that, provided fuel isnt $15 a litre  Will do my best, I am planning to come to the Wandin show next year in anticipation of not being able to make it to Marree. Matt
