Bribie Island is always an option. Across the central track & back down the beach. Kids can swim in the lagoons along the beach. Central track can be a bit of a challenge.

Heading to fraser! Planed before I realised it was a long weekend then was considering not going as it will be a bit hectic. Decided to go anyway and hope for the best

Bloomfield track & around Cooktown for the weekend. Always carry the rods and if we catch something then dinner is sorted, otherwise the pork belly roast is the preferred camp oven favourite.

Spicers Gap track is a fun short trip and then you can walk to Governors Chair along the old convict road that is blocked to traffic. Happy to join you if you want to do it on Mon, as alrerady have family commitments for Sat/Sun.
Last time we did it with a return trip via Condamine Gorge.
Some bitumen, but still quite a scenic trip.

Spicers gap track is quite short (less than hour) unless there's been heavy rain.
Condamine Gorge track is about an hour, but has many spots to stop along the way so could be half a day. If heavy rain probably forget it due to the 13+ creek crossings that flash flood !
Add about 2-3 hours for travel(bitumen) to/from and inbetween both tracks.

Just got back from another week on Fraser... 2 times in 2 weeks. The traffic heading north is super heavy.
I think the people on fraser will be disappointed as I think I bought half the sand back with me :p

They must be used to that by now.
