One of the guys at work thinks he's the one they were talking about in the servey. Now he wants to know when he can actually fill it in. Stats, lies to argue your point of view!

There is a saying around that perception is nine tenths of reality. We shrug our shoulders in resignation of this truism.

Most perception is delivered by "spin doctors" via TV commercials or talk back radio not by personal experience and intelligent contemplation.

Lets face it we are all far too busy with our lives to form our own opinions from experience so we pay others to form them for us. We buy opinions lke choosing between brands of toilet paper from ten varieties on supermarket shelves: based on packaging and price.

This article is about reinforcing stereotypes withput the reader being invited or given the raw data to apply any intellectual rigour.

This mornings newspaper report said: "Owners of big four-wheel-drive vehicles are more likely to be aggresive, selfish, dislike homosexuals and have a low regard for indigenous culture, according to Australian research released yesterday.
The research found the "typical" city driver of a big 4WD-such as a Toyota Landcruiser or a Nisan Patrol- was an obese male in his 40s or 50s who was morraly more conservative and less community oriented."

Well, thats a relief,
1. I drive a Landrover not the products mentioned
2. I am not in my 40s or 50s

I actually take offense to that, where do some people get off. What about all the 4wd clubs who help drag cars out of the bush on clean up australia day, what about the Land Rover Owners club helping with tree planting every year out at Capertee? I really wish that these f#$k wits would stop hanging **** on 4wders and labelling us all the same. Matt
