Hi guys
I had a long nail through one of my 245/70/17 Goodyear Duratracs. It was repaired with an inside mushroom plug. How reliable are these plugs long term?
If I am somewhere doing some offroading and the tyre gets a beating or hot, do they hold up?
Cheers

Where in the tyre was it?
If it was through the tread the mushroom patch will be fine.
Most tyre places won't touch a repair in the sidewall so if it was there then no I would not trust it.

It should be OK,if its in the footprint area.
Are you able to retire it to the spare if it worries you????

IF its in the tread face and its installed properly it'll likely outlast the tyre,
if its on a shoulder or side wall not so much but it'll hold up enough as a spare to get you out of trouble if you take it easy and run high pressures.
