View Full Version : Console Arm Rest Cover Cracking Up

I've done a search and can't see any history of this problem.

My centre console arm rest with vinyl (faux leather) cover has split and cracked in the location where you rest your weight on your elbow when entering / exiting the car.

Car has not spent a lot of time in sun nor had chemical sprays inside. I clean with a chamois.

Looks like a new one is around 140 UK Squid!

Bugger....

Anyone recovered or done anything to repair?

Thanks
Richard

It's not designed to have body weight on it...

If you are able I would suggest changing your entry methodology.

One of the LR wrecking yards should have a good one cheap..

Yes, I've noticed how hard I lean on it. I'm 6'2" and pretty fit so maybe being shorter is an advantage in that regard.

Thanks for tip - I will try the wreckers. Any recommendations?

Mine has just started to split too, if it is a common fault someone will come up with a cheaper solution.

My lid had a small (30mm) split when I purchased my D3 a little over a year ago.

I priced a secondhand lid from a wrecker, but $170 was more than I wanted to pay.

The split hasn't grown, I plan to get a local auto trimmer to re-cover at some stage.
