Serious accident, Fraser Island: A 48-year-old man suffered serious head injuries after falling from the back of a 4WD on the eastern beach of Fraser Island yesterday. Around 11.55am the vehicle was three kilometres north of Wyuna Creek when it is believed to have hit soft sand, causing the man to fall onto hard, wet sand below. The man was treated at the scene by off duty paramedics prior to the arrival of QAS officers. He was then taken to Hervey Bay Hospital by Energex helicopter and later transferred to the Royal Brisbane Hospital.
