Chrome body strip repair?

The more you look, the moor you find....

....the chrome strips in the rubber side mouldings are all discoloured. Before i 'have a crack' at removing them, can anyone give me some tips? Do you take the ends off the rubbers? I can refinish them or replace them, just need them out.

I've got the same happening to mine. I'm just going to replace all of rubbing strips. They are cheap enough for the full set, and hopefully will be cheaper now the GB Pound is starting to take a dive. Check the link.
