Hi everyone

I tried starting my 2003 TD5 Disco2 the other morning and it did crank but didn't start. I saw the amber light come on and go off. no luck second time and finally when I waited for a few seconds and tried again, it started. The day before I had seen the amber light come on for a second or so as I was driving. Since then, all seems to be fine and there hasn't been any issues.

Could it be that the sensor is faulty and needs to be replaced? or there might be water in the fuel. I've recently started using diesel fuel from Costco, not sure if their fuel quality is any different to other petrol stations??

Is this something that requires urgent attention and repair? I'd very much appreciate your advice.

Cheers
Can

Which amber light? There are a couple, not just the fuel water sensor. If it is that unplug the connector loosen the plug and drain the filter into a container to see if there is contaminants in it. That by itself is unlikely to be a reason for non start, More likely faulty starter contacts or a battery terminal .

It's the fuel filter light. I recently had the starter motor refurbished and had a new battery put in two months ago.Thanks.

Pedro I think the op is referring to the water in fuel light mine used to come on occasionally in my first d2 but never had any water in it

The water sensor, bottom of the fuel filter on a D2 TD5 are prone to fail, often through people over tightening them or getting damaged as they hang down a bit further. Over the years I've bit the bullet and generally remove them, tuck the harness and plug up and zip tie out of the way.
