Hi Inc,

Is this to cater for the CT load? What weight are you getting on the towball and do you still have std rear springs?

I had a set on the old Rangie and they were great, never needed them in the Defenders but thinking that they might be needed in the Disco.

Yep, when you throw a full 60l engel fridge in the back, some firewood, a 120ah battery and hook up a CT with about 50kg on the hitch it sags a little style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif

just wanna get it back to level if i can...

I put them in the Fender for the same reason. Short wheelbase, Engel, 100kg ball weight etc, made it sag in the rear slightly.
Put in the Poly airs and run them at 18psi and the Fender sits level.

Note: they recommend putting in the guestimate psi first, then winding up the jockey wheel to see if it sits level. Repeat this adding air until it stays level.
They do not work well as air jacks.

Once you have the figures its easy. I run 4 psi with the vehicle empty, (important to prevent spring chafe on the bags). I ran a set in my TDi300 for 140,000klms before the car was sold. Never had a problem.

Give Greame Cooper at www.lrexpert.com.au a try, $310.50 at the moment.

That is where I got mine for the Rangie when I had it.

Back to the subject...

I too have problems with sagging when I have the camper trailer hitched and a full rear in the Range Rover.

I have been contemplating replacing the springs with stiffer ones but do not want to compromise the ride. If I get 2 inch lift springs all round, then perhaps I might still need the poly air springs as well anyway?

Also contemplated fitting the poly air springs, but thought they seemed expensive.

Question for people with poly air springs and camper trailer - what is the resultant ride like? Does it make the rear end harder? Am I better off buying poly air springs, or investing in a new set of springs all round with a 2 inch lift?

Cheers,

I have polyairs fitted to my defender with standard sprigs in the rear, I run around town with between 5-10psi in them, when I'm fully loaded with caravan I adjust them to suitable height 20-25psi. If I'm loaded right up and going off road I take some air out so they don't hamper articulation, ie the rear end dips down a bit.

I have a total lift of 4" (2 body + 2 spring)

The camper sits level as running 20 psi towing
and 5-10 around town

The spare tyre, engel and drawers live permanently in the rear
with all the tools, also a rear step with a S/W/C with a 2nd spare
and 120litre L/R tank

Not even a hint of sag
