2003 TD5, urgent advice please, is this normal???

Can anyone please have a look at the attached photos, the yellow highlight, and let me know whether or not this is normal i.e. missing bolt from the transmission body?

Yes it's normal. It's for inserting a tool to check for TDC. This thread explains it more.

It appears to be in the bell-housing so probably only an inspection hole that's lost its plug.
