Does anyone know if a steering box from a 1982 rangie will fit a 1995 Disco (V8)???

Generally- yes. You'll notice that the 82 box has 3 bolts at the top and the disco has 4 bolts on the top - otherwise same stuff. The drop arm will be different, but swap the disco one over (need biggish 2 arm gear puller) .
Suggestion: If your not going to reco the disco box and put it back, put in a new bottom seal on the RR box. (use some trans fluid to flush the filings that collect at the bottom seal, seal will last longer that way)

Whats up with yours Disco? Isnt it rebuildable? Just buy a seal kit for $99 bucks and reco yours, if the bearings are stuffed when you get it apart they have them pressed out and new ones pushed in. They are very easy to do and provided there isnt excessive wear in the main shaft through the centre then there are no worries involved. Matt

I found one on Ebay, hopefully will get it for less than $100. I don't want to spend too much as I'm not planning on keeping her too long after Xmas.
The power steering stop leaks worked a treat for a while but she's leaking a fair bit again.
But then I don't want to sell a LR to someone unless it's running right either. Couldn't bear the thought that I turned someone away from the brand.

If its only a leak, just fit a new seal. I dont know if the 3 bolt rangie box will accept your hoses and pitman arm, anyone know for sure ? I know when i looked at a mates 4 bolt box as a replacement for my 3 bolt, the hose fittings were different.

The hose fittings are different between the 3 bolt & 4 bolt boxes, so you will not be able to attach your hoses.
Also beware of buying old 3 bolt boxes, most are so old that when you strip them down you find it will cost more to get the box rebuilt than it is worth. Had to buy one recently in desperation to try and get a good wormshaft, but it was worse than the one we had.

here are the seals to use on your disco steering box. If your bearings are ok then it will never leak again, The Hythane seal probably would not leak again regardless. I replaced bearings as well but where genuine from GC's
the input shaft seal is a NAK TC 22 32 6 it is a double lip seal compared to the standard single, $3.30 which I got from a bearing place.
The Pitman seal I got from a Hydraulic place, Hallite in Seven Hills, it's a Hydraulic seal, it's Blue (Hythane) $10.65. Code 4502701 Description SI 1250 1750 0250 Type 601 1.1/4"x1.3/4" Hythane U-Ring

Is this what you are talking about????
I was outbid anyway, and I'm not going to pay over $100 for it.
I like the prices of those seals stephen, I'll look into that option.
