Hi Guys
Just got back from Dwellingup, met up with Tiny,Taz,Frenchie, plus friends of Tinys with a Hilux and a Honda CRV.
Had a great day,got Black Betty covered in mud.
Most of the tracks were easy forrest tracks, until Tiny went up around a bend and just got up a nice rutted greasy mudhole.Taz got 3/4 the way up and had another couple of attempts but couldnt get his Disco up.Frenchie showed how its done in his Extreme,SIDEWAYS 8) 8) 8) 8) .Then my turn not enough momentum or wheel clearance and Im stuck in Frenchie's ruts.A bit of a push backwards and Im free. This time 3rd low and some right boot,3000rpm style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif and I got thru in spectacular style,I hope someome was videoing 8) 8) 8) 8) Mud flying everywhere.
We dicided to go back as there was no way of getting the CRV thru and it would have been a big ask for the other 2 as it was now really cut up.
After lunch we tried a tough hill that I got up in the Series 3 last time, but with plenty of wheelspin.Black Betty just idled up no fuss, that traction control and good tyres is pretty good.
Great day Tiny, enjoyed getting out with you guys once again.

Great to see you've christened it Andrew, are you happy with its performance?
You've probably said it somewhere but what boots did you fit?

Hi Guys
I just started an album in the trips/treks Gallery with a couple of pics Taz emailed me.Frenchie do you want to add yours to it???
Richard, really happy with the way it goes, when I got stuck in the mud Im pretty sure it was a Traction Control no CDL issue,it didnt even want to rock,I will be fitting a Rangie/Disco1(thanks to AquaRangies garage sale) so I can use the CDL.Tyres are Cooper DiscovererST 255/70X16.
Pedro,I have sold the Ser3,it helped pay for tyres/transfer/insurance
Im sure Tiny has more pics, but he is still down there camping.

Done. I didn't get that many shots, I need to bring along my camera operator next time!

I did get some video of the last hill but we made it look all too easy. 8)

Just out of interest, how did the CR-V go ?

Did it tackle any challenging stuff ?

Our other car is a CR-V but I've never bothered to take it off road (and probably never will). I figure the "on demand" 4WD system would be pretty poor.

Glad you had fun with Black Betty :!: :!:

Cheers
Dave

Hi Dave
The CRV did alright, they didnt tackle the rough stuff, but for its limited ground clearance and road type tyres it was OK.It had to be rescued when it slipped into a deep hole, see the pic in the gallery, the Defender shows how deep the hole was.
