When I heard that this morning I wondered "what Then?"
After the Olympics I suppose Rugby League again?
The Yanks would probably not want him.

Jarrod Hayne is one of the best broken field runners in Rugby League, bar none. Any one saying different, has never seen him play. The good money, is on Eastern Suburbs, if he comes back to league. Apart from that, the next rugby World Cup, for Fiji. How he goes in 7's is an unknown. He may not even make the side for Rio.

I agree. I also think this has been the plan for some time, I didn't think he was that smart.

Then he wants a Melbourne Cup winner.

Apparently they're looking for a jockey small enough to fit on his back.:D

If he draws a wide barrier he might be a chance. Next step after that is Eurovision, I'm a bit disappointed with second place this year.

And after he's put his posh frock and singing voice away, I believe his was the winning tender for the Navy's new submarine fleet.

He's building 8 of them single-handed.

No tall poppy syndrome here. Haynes would be too busy counting his money to worry about any of that.

I've been wondering why the Fijian 7's coach [ Englishman Ben Ryan] would have any bar of Haynes disrupting his sides progression to Rio. So, Haynes father is Manoa Thompson, came to Aus. from Fiji aged 11, played NRL for the Rabbito's , Wests, I think, and the inaugural Warriors side. That doesn't explain it.
However, Manoa Thompson's uncle is Major General Siteveni Rabuka, the 5th Commander of the Fiji Military Forces. You may remember him for being the instigator of two military coups back in 1987. He was also the third Fijian Prime Minister from 1992-1999. Now, I've just finished reading "TURAGA ", the life and times and Chiefly Authority of RATU SIR PENAIA GANILAU, who took over Command of the Fijian Forces after Rabuka, where the Fijian reverance for Chiefly Authority was written clearly. Poor old Ben Ryan has had no choice in the matter, I suggest.
