G`day all Just brought this and broke down

Hi all ,,,, Rob here , just brought a D2 TD5 Auto ,,,,
I have had 12 other Landys in my time from S1 to Range rover HSE ...
I wanted a D2 as it will be for playing on the weekends only ( Family fun )
Any how test drove looked and drove fine ,
So shelled out the very hard earned then drove home ,,,, 168K`s later BANG BANG ,,,,
No drive ,,,
3000 rpm just to get into the break down lane
I phone the guy he said i bet my daughter boy friend has been driving it ,,,, sorry ,,,
Cheers for that ,,,,
anyhow ,, ? way thru ripping the box out ,,, shafts off wires removed
Transfer box off , exhaust removed ,,,,,,,
tomorrow the tranny out and see ,,,,,, I love living on a mud block of land ,,,,
Did i say my back hurts ,,,,,,
will keep every one informed to how its going ,,,,

That's not a good start.

Is the gearbox or the transfer case the culprit?

Looks like the drive basket is torn ,,, will need a doner box and a rebuild kit ,, flex plate has cracks so will change as well ,,,,, just hope the rest of the car is ok or it will be a BBQ next week

Hey Rob from this thread and what you told me on the phone it sounds as though the rebuilt transmission wasn't fitted properly with the torque converter not properly engaged in the pump - leading to the cracked/broken flex plate and possibly damaged pump.

Garry i think the seller lied ,, the gearbox had never been out ,,, the clutch packs are stuffed and the basket is cracked ,,,, also the flex plate is cracked in 3 spots but still holding ,,,New one ordered ,,
I thought while the car was on the stands i would pull the radio out as one speaker crackles ,,,, all the wires are cut and twisted together no tape no solder ,,,, this bloke just brought a D# real nice care ,,,,
He needs to stick to cheap $500 cars he is a full blown butcher

I have trans parts plus a V8 trans minus pump which has 170K on it plus clutch packs and some seals etc,

found a box after stripping mine the flex plate has cracks all thru it but was still holding on ,,, new one purchased ,
Stripped the old box and found the "A" hub and clutches buggered ,,, The "B" basket cracked and the oil and filter looks original ,,,,so much for a reco`d box ,,,,, maybe a visit to the seller see if he will come to the party ,,,he has a very shiny D3 ,,,,,

Ask for the receipts for the work, They don't exist, so then ask where the work was done, as you want to follow up with the workshop. Keep him on side. If he can't remember? something that costly? no memory of the expense.
