Hi all,

I am looking at building my own spare tyre swing away on my 09 D3 similar to the one attached. I'm not really interested on changing to a steel rear bumper.

I am hoping that someone can give me some rough dimensions of their spare tyre holders to recreate or point me to a post that has all the details.

I am specifically interested in the size of the metal channel section under the plastic rear bumper so I can make up the bracket to go around it under the plastic. I am hoping someone has these sizes plus a few photos of the drivers side end or someone has their plastic bumper off that wouldn't mind taking some measurements for me.

As payment I will write up a thread about the build and will draw up the spare tyre holder on CAD for anyone who wants the plans, once I know it all works.

Thanks is advance.

Gav

Hi Gav

I can't help with the measurements at this stage, but wish you all the best with the project. Efforts like this and the sharing of information progress our collective knowledge for the better.

Good luck.

Hi Gav,

I too cannot help with measurements unfortunately. I am keen to see how you go as i am interested in building one.

Is that first pic from the Disco.uk site? From a finnish or swedish car? It looks familiar...

Cheers

Looks more like the Rijidij one, just not painted Photo Gallery - Rijidij Off Road (http://rijidijoffroad.bounce.com.au/photo-gallery/4551411402)

Let me know what dimensions you need,
Although taking off the bumper may be a step too far...

Sorry to dig up an old thread but did this ever get completed/CAD drawings made?

I'm interested in making one too!
