Acceptable slack in auto transmission output shaft

I know that end float is more relevant but how much lateral slack is acceptable in the output shaft of the ZF4HP22 box?

It does get centred by the input shaft of the transfer case I know but is there some reasonable acceptable movement of the auto box output shaft itself?

As far as I can find there should not be any felt movement in the auto output shaft. Only what can be seen with a dial gauge in the order of .000's

I will check on my spare donor trans seem to remember there was some due to the bearing set up and the way everything sits in the clutch pack housing.

Cool. Let me know what you find. I can understand some slack is reasonable to allow the lt230 input shaft and its bearings to not "fight" any inaccuracy in how the output shaft of the zf4hp22 might be setup. Just worried when I wobbled it that I might find myself back under there again soon after putting in my donor lt230!

Not that I don't love lying on a creeper under a beautiful car which is busy trying to mark me as part of its territory at every opportunity it gets. Territorial aren't they :p

yep there is movement in the output shaft. I did seem to remember the same on my overhauled trans having movement too
