from 31 to 33 inch

Hi gents want to go from 31 to 33 inch rubber on 200 tdi. Will be going to set of silverstones. Has anyone done this? Did you feel you lost much power because seriously im thinking sticking with set of 31 inch muddies if im gonna loose much. Will they fit ok? Maybe go 33 inch tyres and then crank up the pump and boost on the turbo?.
Any suggestions would be appreciated

32" is stock size for a defender so sn extra inch shouldnt stress it too much , width will be a factor.

A while back I put a set of 265x75x16 on a 110 , I found that they rubbed the rear spring tower when fully articulated . scrubbing the inside wall of the tyre . So when you go taller they get wider . Jim

Whether or not they rub will depend on the offset of your rims. I run them with no rubbing, on others they rub.

What rims do you have? What width 33?

I run 285/75 16s on my 300tdi with -25 rims. No rubbing anywhere, doesn't affect turning circle. It has affected the low range a little bit, but a change of driving style gets me around it. I also have the 1:2 trans box, which needs a few more revs taking off from the lights. I say go for it.

I think wagons come with 32's and Pick ups 31's. My puma 130 came with 31's and I went to 33's. Initially you notice the slower pick up, and the longer braking. It's not much but it takes a week to get familiar with it. The 33's correct the speedo and brought the revs down 200rpm at 100km/h. The Tdci can hold itself with a good load and 33's over undulating country fairly well. I am not familiar with 200's, but unless you are out 4x4ing weekly, 31 or 32 will suffice nicely. Currently I'm back on 32's and have noticed no difference in fuel, pick up, braking distance. But know it's all spinning as designed.

I went from 31x10.5R15's to 7.50R16's to 33x10.5R15's and it's only been on long hauls up a hill off roading I've noticed a slight difference. Once you're crusing on the highway, nothing noticeable although as jimr1 said you get a little rubbing on full articulation and depending on the rim offset you might just have to adjust your steering stops - no big deal.
