View Full Version : So are we Holden or Ford this weekend?

JamesH

For Bathurst I am supporting Craig Lowndes with Marcos Ambrose after that.

Want Ford to win, not because of the Landie connection but because it is about time and because for my memories the magical GTHOs of the early seventies.

I'm not anti-Holden though. Loved GTR XU1s and A9/Xs/

I'm curious as to whether Ford can make it TWO from the last TWELVE starts, or will HOLDEN reign supreme on the mountain yet again.

The only Ford I'd like to see win is the one driven by THE ENFORCER :!:

Hi all, sorry have been busy.

I dont really care who wins as long as its Russell Ingall, having said that I would rather see him have a top 5 finish and win the championship. He has won bathurst on two previous occasions and never wont the championship. Although his gearbox getting jammed between two gears coming into the chase on his hot lap during the TTSO didnt do much for his chances, first he glances the wall coming out of the chase on thursday and now this, lets just hope all his bad luck has been used up and the Ingall voodoo has taken the rest of the weekend off.

After that, Lowndes, Ambrose and then Richo in the castrol commodore. I would like to say Lowndes will win but i think Muller will let him down, the mountain eats foreign drivers for breaky, i think his choice of co driver will be the only thing other than mechanical failure will be the only limiting factor, that car is certainly fast. Yeah, i was dissapointed when he left holden, but he did go to the right team.

It was last, a lap down to. As the field passed to start the third lap Ingall pulled out at the back of the field to start his second lap, Larry and Russell then proceeded to lap the entire field twice, they passed Seto 9 laps from the end when he stopped at the top of mountain straight with a bent valve, that was in 95 though.

The Stones have had problems with premature front tyre wear over the last two years but they reckon thats sorted. I dont really car what he drives, he has done pretty well this season i just hope his luck holds out for the rest of the year. Now where is the fingers crossed smiley? style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif

I think its just glorified HQ racing---

Bring back Godzilla, the Sierra's, Mini's,, a bit of variety for gods sake,,
at the moment its all just different paint schemes.

Having said that

its a religious event and should be treated as such---
also its not a bad excuse to sit and drink beer in front of the telly all day--- style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif

What about the damage !!! 8O

All roughly around the same spot on the track. The pile up was nasty though, no matter where it was.

I wonder whether Lowndes could have made the pace stick if the wheel didn't smash the windsheild early in the race.

I lost interest in the holden ford debate a while ago, I more support various drivers rather than the car they drive, cant stand skaife he is the most arrogant man in the series, but i really like Todd Kelly he is great, unlike his whingy whiny younger brother, number one on my list is Russell Ingall who is now leading the championship on adjusted points style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif, I was pleased to see Jason Richards finally get a good result it would have been good to see him beat skaife. The Murphy/Ambrose crash was nasty, and Lowndes wouldnt have been in a position to get hit by the wheel if he hadnt been trying to break the speed of sound at the start of the race and break his whats linkage, to many cars were taken out in the first hour trying to make up positions to hastily, bathurst is won in the last half not the first half of the race.

All in all another great race, with lots of action, who would have picked that two of the main contenders would have been taken out only a few laps from the end. Matt

Well written statement- I like your thought process.

Bathurst is one of those sporting events where its difficult to pick the winner - and being in the top 10 doest not always make yyou have beter chances of winning.

The wifes a holden fan me a ford - but we both drive land cruisers and I collect vintage landrover (cope all that).

Catch you later

There was to much jossling for position in the first hour, that first lap incident at Murray's corner which ruined Jones/Bowe's and Kelly/Tanders race should never have happened, and the leader at the end of the first lap rarely wins, nor does the winner of the Sandown 500 (its bad luck). Matt

I'm a Ford fan, but don't REALLY mind a Holden winning. It's just that bloody Skaife that gets right up my nose. I was hoping he'd end up in some kitty litter somewhere.

I really would have liked to see A BIT OF BIFF between Murphy and Ambrose. Now THAT would be good TV :!: style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif

Not like Lowndes to make a mistake like that. Still he was decent enough to stand up and admit it. I wonder if he was going flat stick because of concerns his co-driver might have been too slow?

I was depressed by the result and enthralled by the race. Think Ace is a bit harsh on Kelly Jnr. His voice is very high pitched and whiny but have not noticed him whingeing more than others (they all do their share). I don't dislike Murphy but him going on about Ambrose having an ego problem and thinking he is always right was a good laugh. Look in the mirror, Murph.

Skaife is a charmless berk but you only win a 161 lap race round Bathurst by working for it and earning it.

They've all got pretty good egos on them. That's what comes from being really good at what they do, and being in the public eye getting a lot of praise .
Look at any half decent sportsman.
