Does Channel 9 have to ruin its Origin broadcast with endless beer and gambling ads? Its annoying me and the game hasn't even started. No wonder so many drunks seem to think it's OK to bash their partners.

A lot of Aussie culture is alcohol and gambling. It is being brought out more into the open. This is a sore point with me because of my daughters situation...domestic violence brought on by alcohol fueled attacks by her now gone husband. She now has to fight in the Family law courts to hold her family together whilst the perpetrator gets free legal aid and sits back laughing. He is still trying to manipulate her through the courts to create as much disruption to her life and that of the kids. Sorry

Yep, a lot of family violence is alcohol-fuelled. Very sad results too. Also some violence problems with drunken fans in grandstands. And there are a lot of problem gamblers wasting their family's money betting.

If you don't like them, don't watch them.

I didn't watch any beer and gambling ads last night.

As a non-drinker I don't mind the booze ads... They are what they are, and sometimes a little humourous.

I've been known to have a bet every now and then, and the thing that bothers me about gambling isn't the ads, it's the cross to someone going through the odds... It's not entertaining, it's not an advertisement as such, it's just annoying useless information...

Yeah, it's one of the reasons I record so many programs now - so I can skip through the annoying beer and gambling ads.
