Hi brains trust,

This has happened tonight but we had a short lived issue with something similar about 6 months ago when we had a flat battery in unexplained circumstances.

Today, when my wife had the car the radio stayed on when the car was turned off. It could only be turned off by starting the engine, turning off the radio and then stopping the engine. The date and time were then wrong but corrected on next start. This happened after we got the last flat battery, once, then never again.

When I got home from work I noticed that though the car is locked and instrument cluster is not illuminated, the centre dash date and time screen is still lit( I have a base model - so no touch screen or sat Nav).

I have tried starting then stopping again, it stays on.

Any suggestions as to how I might get it to shut down fully so I won't have a flat battery in the morning! Then at least I can drive it in to get it looked at.

(Or should I just disconnect the battery for the night)

Or a clue as to the potential cause.

Thanks in advance,

Pat

Unless it has always stayed on and I just haven't noticed 😁!

They do stay live for some time, but do go out completely.
Is there a door not shut properly, they will stay on much longer if the vehicle is open.

Did a hard reset , followed the GOE booklet instructions- thanks Gordon!

Now it shuts down as per normal.

Seems fixed for tonight. Will see how it goes tomorrow.

I had a similar thing happen a couple days ago. I couldn't turn the radio off when ignition off or on/engine started. I didn't think anything of it really, if it posed a problem I was going to pull fuses, but after a restart or two it fixed itself.

Well, the car started this morning without incident.

The radio turned off when engine was turned off - as per normal; and clock screen went off when car was locked.

So, it appears to be okay.

There must be an intermittent glitch somewhere which we will just have to keep a bit of a watch for - trying to go to work with a flat battery is never a good way to start the day.

Pat, I've had this fault too - same car, D4 2.7 2011... coincidence? ;)

I know what caused the issue with mine... my wife was on the mobile about 10m from D4. I had to move the D4 out of the way- when I started the car, the bluetooth in stereo took over the call, so my wife couldn't hear the caller, but I could. After I moved about 30m away, the bluetooth connection dropped out and left both mobile and car stereo scewed up. I had to pull battery out of mobile (locked up) & do a hard reset was done, but a fix never applied. Hasn't happened again, so haven't bothered looking for ICE update.
Cheers, Rob

I think there's a few things that might trigger this fault. I had the same thing happen in mine (D4, 2.7 2012) immediately following replacement of the battery in Perth a while back. At the same time, also experienced problems with re-setting the "auto-open" and "auto-close" on some of the windows (driver's window worked OK, but others wouldn't re-set).

I disconnected the battery and followed the hard re-set procedure, and all problems were cured and haven't been seen since.

It's a glitch with the BT and Audio system.
Just holds on instead of releasing the last call (call is gone but connection isn't in Audio system).

A reset sorts it..

It's a glitch with the BT and Audio system.Yep, had that happen with the D4.

Yep, had that happen with the D4.

The car connecting to my wife's phone inside the house happens every time I take the car somewhere. Thankfully never had to reset...

Hi Rob and others,

I reckon you are right about the phone thing in our case too. Both times it has happened my wife has had the car and she is often on the phone and will occasionally continue after engine turned off.

Does not seem to happen all the time but I don't think it is a coincidence.

Cheers,

Pat

Ps. Also no problems since the reset.
