Well it appears what was on as the 'Main Event' sale late last year/early this year is back on although called something else now. Anyway have put an enquiry in to a fleet buyer to see the best deal available.

Needs: 7 seats, leather, technology pack and upgraded stereo, xenon
Nice to haves: rear ac, e diff

Have said a budget of around $75-83k so most likely tdv6 but may be open to a used sdv6 if the dollars make sense. It's been put out to tender by the fleet buyer so am interested to see what the dealers come back with. Hopefully they'll be extra keen to shift some stock for EOFY. Let the games begin!

Anyone else gone down the fleet buyer/broker route? What was your experience, was it worth while or do you think you could get as much saving as a private buyer??

I tried a broker twice over a period of a year on Toyota work vans,and they couldn't come near the prices I got direct from two different dealers.

Maybe it depends on the brand.

My MY 15 D4 purchased two weeks ago same spec but with rear AC, and Santorini black metallic with ebony. A demo at 76K drive away.
Another dealer who was trying to get me into an MY 16 ( second hand, but similar kms and no rear AC) had as the only selling point that the Bluetooth streaming was a bit better and Nav would be more up to date. The cars were built and complied two months apart and ended up at same price point. In fact second dealer offered me 2K less if the first deal fell through.
These were two branches of the same dealership.
Definitely will be some good deals out there.

We were in the same boat so to speak, at the time of contract (about 4 weeks ago now) they couldn't get us much with an E-Diff, and certainly couldn't "order" anything new, modified to our wants.
Of vehicles ordered already by LR in Aus, there were only a couple with the E-Diffs, but most already seemed to have all the electrical upgrades and a few with rear air from memory. We obtained one of only 4 forthcoming HSE's being ordered to be built for the country, 2 of which had the diff. Lucky for us, we were able to Change the colour and something minor in the trim category (?). Other than that, no changes allowed.
As it happened, because we couldn't get the going deal at the time, we were well assured, there will be a similar deal for us on delivery,,, we'll see.

I have seen it recently advertised in newspapers but not sure if it's still going. The ad included a photo of all LR models together, all in the bronze colour.

I've just signed for a MY16.5 TDV6 Graphite with the same options above, minus the RAI and in Fuji white for just under $80k. Pick it up next week! There are very good deals to be had before EOFY. The metallic grey would add approx $2k, not sure on the RAI, but im sure you can get a much better deal than that. FYI the sticker price on that car was above $90K originally before the free on roads!
Push hard and tell them what you'd be prepared to spend as opposed to what their best offer is. Good luck!

The Raised air intake isn't often recommended from what i've been told on here don't waste your money as it's not a snorkel. Buy an aftermarket Safari Snorkel instead if you plan on doing water crossings. Not worth the risk in my opinion.

Just thought I'd add my 2c worth on buying the best 4wd in the world, at the best price.


Bought my D4 HSE (with 20" Black pack) in 2013 after researching for approx 6 months and waiting for the best offer. Eventually found an ex demo (less than 1000km) which allowed me to buy all my after market accessories (extra tank, roof racks, spare wheel carrier and safari snorkel) and still approx $15K less then RRP (without black pack) at the time.


My advice is if you have the time, wait for the right car at the right price, and dont let the marketing hype of their sales sway your judgement on what you want to pay. I also recommend when you are serious then talk to the sales manager directly to get the best deal. ;)

Back in late 2013 I went to them for a test drive as I live in the Parramatta area and so felt obliged to give them a shot at matching/beating the price I found. Bottom line is that Purnell's at Blakehurst offered me a deal. I rang Trivett's and spoke to the sales manager as the salesman was on a rostered day. He couldn't come within several thousand of the Purnell offer. Lucky for us as we had dropped into Purnell's on the way back from lunch just on the off chance. Found them great to deal with.

Had to forgo the rear climate control but at least I got the rear diff lock.

Now to plan for the wheel carrier to address the spare wheel release issue with a loaded car and the UHF and battery system.

Looks like you get your vehicle a month ahead of me. The cars with rear diff are rare unless you order to suit which gives you a less bargaining position imho.

you get a good deal ? rubber mats are free as part of corporate plan.
I'm umming and erring about changing the tyres or not. Might stick to the wrangler HPs and see how they go.

i joined the club today. Appliance White SDV6SE with E-Diff and Tech Pack (keeping it simple). Haven't decided whether to novate or pay cash, as I have to talk to my fleet manager on Monday and crunch a few numbers. Cash deal was pretty good with trading a MY14 Grand Cherokee. Corporate pack included as my company qualifies.

I'm going to hit the options, like an ARB bar (if it is ever released)with a winch and lights (advice needed), Safari snorkel, Mitch Hitch to tow an incoming Australian Off Road Quantum 4. I'll probably go a set of Drifta Drawers and remove the third row of seats for extra storage underneath the drawers. I'll do something in the order of a dual battery setup in the back for our fridge. I have a Provent catch can to install (never got around to it with the Jeep).

We may do the long range tank/wheel carrier some time in the future.

I want to do some roof racks, so will have to investigate the options (any advice appreciated). I'd like to do the GOE wheels, but the budget is busted for a few months :D

I too have been crunching the numbers on novated v cash . Don't forget that if you have cash, take into account the difference if you just sunk that cash into a term deposit and novated.

Note that with novating, the FBT on these cars are a killer and the GST input tax credits the leasing company can claim is limited to 1/11 of $64,132 (LCT threshold).

Note also that you have the corporate plan so maintenance costs will be reduced for the 3 years eroding some of the leasing benefits.

There are definitely deals out there but to be honest I was getting similar dollar quotes inside and outside the promo so I'd suggest don't panic if you don't see the car you want just wait and deal hard later. They still need to shift cars.

Prices I got in QLD was TDV6 with tech pack, 11 spkr, xenon's, electric mirrors, rear air, metallic paint, matts and boot liner being 80k driveway.

In the end I opted for an interstate purchase as the prices were less flexible from the QLD dealers for me.

Settled on a 2016 demo HSE with 3,000kms on it. The car has metallic paint, sunroof, upgraded Windsor leather, blind spot monitoring, tow ball and tongue, carpet matts and boot liner. Paid $86k delivered to the house. After that you just pay rego/stamp duty so I'm just below $90k all up. The downside with the demo is that you don't get the corporate servicing and you lose 2-3 months of factory warranty but I've factored that in. Plus you need to wait a week for transport!

I purchased in Vic but WA are very aggressive with pricing.

Interest rates I got quoted was 4.6% but saw Titanix get quoted under 4% which is incredible.

My situation is slightly complicated, as I have a trade-in vehicle involved. I'm not prepared to purchase before selling, so I ran a trade-in scenario by them. There's obviously an over-allowance in the ca$h changeover because the equivalent value of the trade is more than my bottom theoretical selling price (private) and $5k more than the nearest competitor for a direct trade. That in itself makes the deal sweeter.

The best I can get for cash at the bank is 3.35% (ATM). Novated lease is 5.07%. To go down the novated route I lose 4.5k on the trade, factor out maintenance (as you wrote) and still have a $40k residual at the end. When I look at the nett value after tax benefits and the better trade-in value with cash, it's actually several grand beneficial to go the cash route. So at the moment I'm swinging towards cash. Even the preferential pricing for all the ARB gear (and nett of GST) still doesn't really benefit the Novated Lease case. I have a few days to decide.

Regarding roof racks, I've done a bit of searching and can only find Rhino Racks with a solution for not having factory rails on the SDV6. I may need to search harder :D I'm looking at a rack solution so I can option a kayak carrier or a roof pod or basket to attach to the bars.

If you can justify using your car for work you are better staying away from novated lease.

I get a car allowance & do it like this:
Purchase the car on consumer loan thru land rover broker at 4%.
Because you own it there is no FBT.
You can claim depreciation 20% per year over five years
You can claim interest.
You can claim rego, insurance, fuel, maintenance, tyres, accessories etc. etc.
I submit an income tax withholding variation with the ATO & pay no tax on 90% of my car allowance.

I do have to justify it all when I do my tax return.

I must admit I am anal about log books, receipts etc but the benefits are significant.

Remember novate lease companies are there to make money.
