I understand the rubber gaskets are important,,
can they be re-used?
and which red/blue/black/? sealant??

I thought that the 4.0-4.6 V8 only uses sealant.
I used grey Permatex sealant on my 3.9 and it worked well.

Just to be more specific, the sealant was in a pressure pack .

Genuime gasket Pedro and if you want ( i don't usually use it on these) then a small amount of Wurth 250 where the t seals are at the rear main cap...
Don't reuse them. The rubber goes hard and shrinks and they are unable to be tightened further as there are steel anticrush washers as part of the gasket

Hi Pedro,
Personally use the Toyota black sealant with great success. yes I know it is Toyota but it works and works well. Not the cheapest sealant on the market.........

not so scarey,, lots of things happen by themselves on the BSL,,
