Looks like we're losing our RRS brothers and sisters ....
There's a name change to "L319 Discovery 3 and 4"
And there's "L320 Range Rover Sport" under the Range Rover section (but no posts yet).
It was real, don't forget to write ....

So the RRS has shed her posh frock and sashayed over to a new forum?

Took me a few minutes to figure out my D3, D4 RRS bookmark had been renamed.

This is still under discussion in the mods area.
Please post how you feel.
The big problem seems to be the confusion between the tarted up Discos and the new un tarted up fully fat rangies.
I would like to see our tarted up sisters remain.

For those that know the similarities, it's clear to me that here is the right place. But I can understand that RRS owners want to feel more exclusive than they really are. ;)

Dave,I think the issue is more with the new RRS not the old one.

Haha now be nice! I want to stay...

I thought there'd already been a big discussion and vote about this, and the conclusion was to keep the forums platform-based? Renaming this one L319/320 would be fine...

I agree they should be in the same place, though understand that RRS owners would look in the RR section.

What about a link in the RR section to the D3/4/RRS section? (Unless that was already a thing - i never checked the RR section :p )

Cheers

I agree with Stuart and also Dave's comment. There is so much common ground for the T5 platform vehicles but not all L320 owners know this. There is also now many years of intermixed threads that I think it's impossible to split out L320 stuff.

As new L320 owners come to the forum they will either figure it out or need it explained but once explained it's easy to grasp. I haven't noticed a big need to explain or lots of confusion either.

Keeping the L4-- series Range Rovers together or separate .... not sure, bit too early yet perhaps but with both being RR & in that section, there's less potential for confusion anyway. Again there will be the occasional need to clarify for new members with RRS as to where they fit if they don't suss it out.

Disco Sport in its own Discovery sub-section makes sense but adding the model designation is a good idea, as it is for all these sections.

Scott

I think the change is a pain as I now need to check 2 forums as my L320 shares so much with the D3/4. I have got so much useful stuff from having the combined forum - should have just created a new forum for the RRS models after the D3 chasis was dropped IMHO.

Better the way it was , the only diff between the 2 is body style and name , I thought this was the reason in the first place to group them together , I have never looked in the Range Rover section anyhow .

Of course they should be in the Range Rover section. Makes more sense than platform based common areas. Simple - Freelander, Defender, Discovery, Range Rover, at the root and split from there.

That's how Land Rover are doing and so should we.

So you think it should be name plate based, and not technology based? So if it sounds like a duck, walks like a duck, but happens to be wearing a swan mask, it goes in with the swans? :lol2:

I always initially check 'new posts' so see posts regardless of their section.

That's a very easy way to describe it, thanks. Yes, badge based, not tech.

Only my second post (in 3 years) but I have to say as a RRS owner I would really miss the D4 discussions as so much of it applies to the RRS.
I actually didn't know I could also get on the L320 blog and find out more about the RRS.
To be honest I would probably still look at the D4 discussions even though we aren't included in the elite group!!!!

Personally, I reckon a rename like this is a total PITA :censored:

The hundred or so bookmarks that I have saved to this forum are now dead...!

I think this forum change is a pain in the arse. May as well have a sub forum for each colour choice. My thoughts are if the general running gear is similar then a forum essentially based on the driveline is good, and the prior D3 D4 RRS worked. Who cares about the body shape.

Sadly way too many couldn't follow it

It had to be a serious problem for me to break all the search links but it was becoming a bigger issue so I moved to fix it

Some things have to evolve to be relevant

No fences were harmed in this update....

I just tried a few and they still work. They redirect to the new name site - watch the URL as it loads.

I'm afraid that I will continue to post any RRS issues in the D3/4 thread and this is the reason: there are many more owners of D3's than RRS so the depth and breadth of knowledge and experience is far greater in the D3 thread; also, at any given time there are many more viewing the D3 thread so any posted issue is seen by many more people who may be able to help given the vehicles share so much in common. So hopefully my issue will be resolved before Incisor gets a chance to move it to the RRS thread where it will most likely languish. Sorry Incisor I know and very much appreciate that its your baby........

All the history isnt lost,a few of the moderators have been trolling back thru the D3/D4/RRS area shifting RRS threads to their new home.

yeah, when you look at the stats, last night 31 were viewing RRS and 136 the D3, so you reach a lot more people who can help with RRS problems in the D3 section. Thats where I'll be.

Your opinion.............:)

(Don't tell anyone, but I actually really like the RRS. Doesn't stop me trying to wind the owners up though :D)
