Hi fellow tragics!

Just wondering if we want to have another D3/D4/RRS weekend this year?

I'm happy to start organising it, but will need a helping hand or two to run the other trip.

I'm thinking September timeframe - roughly.

I also reckon Lake Lyell is a handy, central location.

Thoughts anyone?

Cheers, Rob

I am super keen however two significant obstacles are in my way.
1. It's not my wife's cup of tea
2. My 2 year old needs to stop and play in the dirt fairly regularly.

I am tempted to leave number 1 at home for the weekend and play in the dirt with No. 2.

Unfortunately i wont be much help coordinating as I've never been before.

Cheers

Just a heads up on the forum rules.Well the ones that were placed upon the WA folk.
Its fine to discuss the trip here whilst sorting venue and dates etc, once a date is set this thread gets closed and you must run a thread in "upcoming events"

Rob, good idea getting this up now. It was left too late last year which meant people were booked in with other things and it was hard getting a team together to do the planning.

Dan, no experience necessary. Anyone that's willing to lend a hand where it's needed is welcomed.

Andrew, yes that is what happens each year. We conduct a vote on when and where. Once agreed, thread is closed and discussion continues in trip prep.

As Rob said, Lake Lyell has worked well in the past. If anyone has any ideas or preferences it'd be great to hear them.

I'm interested, but have no idea if I am available until a date is set, then we can see if time off work is possible.

Google maps says lake Lyell is 10hrs54min away so I may not be a contender

Somewhere closer to QLD would suit us cane toads better.

Isnt there a law against RRS mixing with D3/D4:wasntme::wasntme::wasntme::wasntme:
Would be an idea to post a thread with a link in their world so they know they are welcome:cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::cool:.

Hi All,

I would love to do this again, after having missed last year.

Just a quick note, I know that I was one of the guilty ones who said I would be in, but needed to pull out when the final venue was announced because driving 3-4hrs to get to the venue, then a whole day or two's driving, then another 3-4hrs would be asking a bit much from the little ones in the family.

If the meeting place and activities are around Lake Lyell then that would be great!

I am pretty well guaranteed to be in.
Happy to help Jonesy.
This pretty well decides me on when to order the GOE 18's. Now just have to organise them and some rubber.
Cheers

Ohhhh, a 9.5H drive in the new car,,, now wouldn't that be nice :D

No guarantee on car arrival time, or if the Mrs would be in for a big drive, so I'll stay out of it at this point :(
But next year, well, that could be a very different story :D

Yep, hard to do in a weekend at that distance. Just did Port Macquarie and back in a weekend, that was about far enough :D

The previous ones I've been to have been great. I can probably get my hands on a Disco for the weekend, so you can put me down as interested.

Cheers,
Jon

Or even ride shotgun if you can't line one up Jon. But the green farm truck can't leave the campground [emoji51]

I drove down from Brisbane last year and hope to go again this year if I can get the Fri & Mon off. It was a good trip.

I could be keen depending on when it is. Only a couple of hours from Sydney.

Blimey who let's a Deefer driver pilot their Disco?
On another note the D4 is in for its bits including the cargo barrier ( thanks Jon). Pics when done.
In the meantime I have rented a RAV4 or equivalent (otherwise known as a Tractor, oops sorry D4D Prado). What's not to like? Sorry don't get me started on that.

I suspect the green farm truck won't even be allowed in the campground, but then again if people are allowed to bring caravans I don't see why I can't bring my shed. :D

Love the shed. We can sit around the fire in it if it is raining:wasntme:

We still have a D3 in the family, stock as a rock and still on the crappy GoodYears. I'd probably have to promise to shower sometime in the week before I borrow it though. Meanwhile I also have another cunning plan....

Yeah, that's something I need to fix on mine. It refuses to leak.

Has there been any movement on deciding a date yet? My biggest issue is needing around 10 weeks or so notice if my wife and/or I need to organise time off work, which will almost certainly need to happen for any date.

Mike and I were thinking one of these two weekends : 15-16 or 22-23 October. The three weekends before that are school holidays, so Lake Lyell would be booked out. I'll give them a call today to check availability and then put up a poll.
Cheers, Rob
