Hi all,

Have got myself a new 130 defender and wondering where everyone puts there radios, for such a big vehicle there isn't much room to put it.

regards

I ended up getting a roof-mounted console for my 110 and putting my radio kit in there.

This was / is in Brissie and unfortunately was a few years ago and can't remember who did it.

Was a mob down near opposite lock at Bowen Hills (in fact it may even have been ordered through Opposite lock? - honestly can't remember).

I mounted mine to the front of the centre console box with the mike alongside. Really happy with it too style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

i did have it on the front of the consol, but it got in the way

In the 110 mine is mounted on the front of the console to the left of the gearlever with the microphone on the dash. In the 2a it is behind the centre seat with the microphone clipped above the window at the back of the cab

Yep, that is exactly where mine is. Mine is the cheap but tiny GME so there is no other unit, the whole thing fits where your head unit is style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif My only comment is that is in very rough stuff for days on end my knee occasionally brushed the volume knob. I would move it a little further in if I did the job again style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

I would not recommend my set up. The header and mike are in exctly the same place as GreyLandy which is AOK but the unit is INSIDE the stoarge box so with road and engine noise and lid closed you can't hear it. So you drive with the lid open but even then the stuff in box muffles the speaker.

I like that fancy centre console. Might put it on the landy christmas list.

Exactly why I mounted the unit on the side of the console. Another option is to utilize the space underneath the console ... I lifted mine by 2 inches and built a box to house a 500W inverter ... could do the same for the radios.
