Hi all,
Can anyone with a TD5 tell me why there would be a fan/motor noise from behind the dash (instrument cluster) with just the ignition on, engine off and climate control off? You hear it predominantly when you glow the TD5, (not that it needs to glow long). I think it continues when the engine runs, however the engine usually drowns out this noise from behind the dash.
Thanks
Chris

It may be the air temp sensor fan on the RHS of the steering wheel. It is a very small fan that is used by the air con system climate control to draw air over the sensor. It has a small slotted vent. Listen in that area.

I've had the air sampler replaced. Thats the one near the key, behind the little grill in the dash next to the mirror control. Thers is a fan behind it that may start buzzing.

Check the recirculation motor for the air con. I came a cross a few where the flap was slightly distorted and the motor keeps spinning around making a buzzing noise. You will find the recirc. motor behind the glove box on the side of the heater box.
