I am getting serious now about purchasing a D4 and I want to check compatibility of parts as my D3 is fully loaded and as most D4s here in Brisbane seem to have been bought for the school run they don't come with much in the way of accessaries. I have a 2005 V8 D3. I am looking at 2010-2012 SE and HSE D4s and the RRS. The RRS seem to be slightly cheaper with less KMs. The parts I want to check are, ARB winch bar, Kaymar Rear Bar and wheel carrier with tow hitch, 100 L LR fuel tank. I know the bull bar is up to 2012 D4. What about RRS? Same with rearer and tank. If compatibility is an issue I might get a newer D4 TDV6 and start from scratch. I believe my 18" wheels will fit the back wheels so I can keep one for spare. Unsure about the front. Did the RRS have the E-diffas an option.

Carl, I can't help with the compatibility but Redback created a compatibility sticky thread. Maybe some of your answers are there already?

Thanks, I know but you are not allowed to ask questions there. The idea is you ask here and then post results there. I did pose this question there a while ago and got my knuckles rapped.

Your answer..
No
No
And No.

The 3rd No is dependent on if the tank was made for later model D3s as the chassis changed and they redesigned it to suit. Otherwise it sits way too low on a D4.

On a RRS you would need the RRS bull bar and a wheel carrier as they don't do Kaymar versions.
As for Long range tank on a RRS - I'm unaware of any but hopefully someone will come along and answer.

Opposite Lock do an 88ltr auxiliary tank and bull bar for the L320 Sport. No rear bar I'm aware of.

Cheers

Now I am close to buying a 2010 D4 V8 I just wanted to confirm as I am a bit confused.
1. Will my 2005 D3 ARB Bull Bar fit.
2. Will my Kaymar twin wheel carrier fit.
3. Will the Safari snorkel fit.
4. Will GOE 18" wheels fit a D4 V8.

I know this has been covered a lot but I am still confused. If the BB doesn't fit I will get another as part of the lease package.

3. No. The 5.0 V8 has twin intakes. The vent on the passenger side guard is not a dummy like in the diesels
4. Should do, as the V8 brakes are the same as the 3.0.

I think it may have a changeable panel to match the appropriate vehicle so you may be partially there...

1. Will my 2005 D3 ARB Bull Bar fit. No
2. Will my Kaymar twin wheel carrier fit. I think it will but double check with Kaymar
3. Will the Safari snorkel fit. I think it will fit but will be next to useless as the V8 breathes through both LHS and RHS vents.
4. Will GOE 18" wheels fit a D4 V8. Yes.

I sold my D3 with only one of the wheel carriers and kept one for the D4, this saved a bit of money. If I did it again I wouldn't get a Kaymar rear bar I would just get a rear carrier and keep the original bumper.

If you are thinking of getting an auxiliary tank be aware that the V8 is different to the diesels and the D3. The charcoal canister needs to be connected correctly or you will have problems.

Also be aware that the resonators at the rear of the V8 exhaust are very large and will likely hit the brackets for any auxiliary tank. I had mine removed and there was very little noise increase.

PM me if you have any specific questions regarding the V8, I've had mine for over 3 years now.

I have an awesome twin exhaust on the D3 that I would like to change over as well if it could be made to fit at the front.

I wish I could transfer the 100L tank as well. I don't think it will fit.

It should, there is no difference in the mounts. The only difference is the charcoal setup and that is just plumbing. The D4 V8 has to have a closed system to work.

I also think your exhaust would fit as the D4 is very similar to the D3 diesel from the the first muffler back just bigger.

Mine is a D3 V8. I have become used to the range of 180L of fuel onboard. I can get nearly 1500kms on the highway.

I was referencing the D3 diesel as I had one previous to the D4. The architecture seems similar for all of them. Mine has a 92l auxiliary tank. I get around 900km around town the best I've seen on a trip is 1200. Most trips I do are towing though.

I get 1000kms commuting which is a bit of everything. They like a drink when they tow. I was surprised with the 4.4L I was getting 16L/100km with a 750kg camper trailer. I am hoping the extra power and torque of the 5.0L will better that. I am not sure what I am going to do with the D3 yet. I will certainly be taking the Kaymar bar off the rear. I will get a new ARB bar for the front of the D4. I might look into club rego and leave it at Port Douglas as I am a member of the Cairns club. It is not worth trading or even selling privately. It is worth more in parts I believe.

Hi All.
The middle seat in 2nd row of my D3 is stuck in the upright position. I’ve WD-40’d the mech to no avail. Now looking at replacing the seat. D4 seats are available online.
Does anyone know if the D4 seats will fit directly into the D3 with no modification?
I can’t find anything on this topic through the threads.
Any advice appreciated.

Will depend on what model D3 you have, later models fold flat, early models don't I think, all D4 rear seats fold flat with the floor so may be different.

Part numbers will tell you, different part No usually means won't interchange.
