Hi, tomorrow i should be picking up a trailer similar to a no5. The owner said it was a kitchen trailer but i can't find any pics on the interweb that match it. Looks like a no5 tall and skinny with round tube draw bar but has small compartments in front of and behind wheel. Looking to rego and build into camper to pull behind the disco. I understand there will be some mods involved for track and level tow height. How much effort is involved get rego in s.a.? Are any of these military trailers rare? Therefore should it just be left alone and passed on to a collecter type? I will post some pics when i pick up to try to help with id/age. Where would the serial numbers be? Sorry for so many questions just not sure i want to mod the thing if it's rare or really old.

Post up pics.
If it is indeed a kitchen trailer, it will be difficult to convert to a usable camper.

If it's a kitchen trailer you would be best not to alter it, and it will involve a lot of work if you do
- pop over to REMLR, register of ex military land rovers (Australia)
And look at all the trailers they have there in the trailer section, this will give you an idea of what trailer is what.
If you have problems pm me no I'll try and find the ones I mean and send a link to you. REMLR though is an enthusiast web site so is fairly easy to navigate. And those on there are a good mob.
Rego shouldn't be too hard in SA. Bung up the photo.. I have a 5 but our local cadet unit could use a kitchen trailer for their camps etc so if you want to swap I'm interested.. (Mine is an early no. 5 but was cammo-ed in service.)
If you are doing a no.5 as a camper there are some good already done examples on here and REMLR, some have a roof top camper and frame work so they can use trailer but convert back to military example... But it is your trailer and your choice - we always love a photo and a thread so watching with interest.

Cheers digger, after looking at remlr im leaning more towards workshop trailer but without canopy etc. I'll drag it out from the pile of stuff sitting on it and get some pics tomorrow. ;)

A RAEME workshop trailer does match your description. The body unbolts from the chasis, so you could put on a new body and keep the original unchanged.

Bonzaman,it does sound like a WKSP trailer.Congrats.One of mine is set up as a camper(whilst retaining origionality).Dependent on where you are in SA,you are more than welcome to check out mine.If you need help with ID and other info Im more than happy to help out.Regarding altering the tow pintle to suit the Disco,I have one that I swap over when towing behind the X-trail.There is a photo of it on my welders trailer on REMLR (trailer section page 3 2nd from bottom).Cheers Hallsy.
