Hello all,

Search didn't yield the answer I was looking for, so......

I am trying to locate and connect to the signal terminal on my alternator (2005 TD5). This is a stock photo of the alternator:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Land-Rover-Defender-2-5-TD5-1998-2007-Alternator-Vacuum-Pump-UK-Manufactured-/221894291907?fits=Car+Make%3ALand+Rover%7CModel%3A Defender&hash=item33a9ee31c3:g:xwEAAOSwKIpWAso-110471

Would any of you know where the signal attachment/ terminal is?

Background: I have installed the non-TD5 VDO Tachometer and have read that the signal from pin-19 of the ECU is not strong enough for the non-TD5 specific tach.

Years ago I bought a RRC with a non-standard diode pack that didn't have the required terminal so a pick-up wire was fitted to 1 phase. The rear cover had to be removed to attach the wire.

Can you see a terminal marked "W"?

See http://www.aulro.com/afvb/technical-chatter/29828-td5-alternators-w-terminal.html

If not, see Adding a W terminal to alternator (http://www.ybw.com/forums/showthread.php?294596-Adding-a-W-terminal-to-alternator)
