Hi all,
I have been off the site for awhile, previously had D1/D2 &D3, then sold out of the marque.
Well I'm interested to get back to grass roots so to speak.
I would seriously love a defender, but as I am 6'4 tall and have in the past tried sitting in one but seating position was terrible. I know you can get aftermarket seat extensions.

Without spending heaps of time trolling the forum, which I have already, can anyone tell me if they have fitted seat extensions and are also as tall as me and cope ok with the defender?
Does the 90 restrict this option more than the 110? I seem to remember the 90 has a bulk head that may limit how much you can extend the seats rails.

Finally, if any one in Metro Melbourne that has seat extensions in their 90 or 110 wouldn't mind me taking a look at their set up, it would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Neil.

Hi I'm 2m tall and with the seat extension fit in my 110 fine. It's cosy, but I am used to it. We do have after market Recaro seats, which might make a difference.

I'm in Sydney, so can't help with a test seat.

I'm only 6" tall, but I have a 90 without seat extensions, (I drive on the very last seat notch) and find that there is sufficient room. I do prefer to have the window open for extra elbow room.

On the Puma defenders there is no bulkhead behind the seats, but there is a reinforcement bar thing, even on the very back setting for the seat there is another 70mm ish before the seat hits that bar. So I would think that the extension seat rails would fit and work fine.

I'm 6'1" (185cm) and have the extensions fitted to the Puma 110 and don't need to have it right back. I drive with my arms nearly straight and find there's plenty of room.
Those that sit jammed in close up behind the wheel (is that so they can peer around the A pillars?) may well feel uncomfortable in any vehicle sitting like that.

6'4" With seat rails in a 110. I don't use the full extension. I also replaced the door handle which made a big difference. Stock steering wheel is fine.

The interior door handle (hard plastic) dug into my leg so replaced it with a soft cloth version. something like this - (http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTIwMFgxNjAw/z/U4MAAOSwv0tU~dF9/$_57.JPG).

I'll be in the city tomorrow all day, you can come and sit in it.
Alternatively if you want to do it on the weekend, we can arrange a time.
pm me.

ahhhh well that makes sense... I was thinking the door opener handle - u know the plastic D shape bit u pull to open the door! hahaha...

I dont remember having the "door handle" hit my leg... but I'm sure I'll pay more attention to it now!

I know that a certain person that gets in the passenger side of my car always puts all her weight on the door handle... waiting for it to tear off!

Thanks to Karl for allowing me to view his set up and take a seat with the extension rails. Looks like a goer, now just to find one at a decent price!!! Have ruled out a 90, need the extra seat and rear room of a 110.

Cheers
Neil.
