Hi guys.
Gearbox seems possessed all of a sudden.
Randomly stopped while drivinghome yesterday just no forwards or reverse.
Figured perhaps low on oil. Just dropped and filled gearbox.
Same thing so changed the xyz switch to my spare unit. Same thing.
It sort of creeps forward in 1st. Well we thought first.
However no matter what gear or reverse or neutral she still wants to go forward. Just ever so slightly in reverse and park selected but other gears its like its in 1st gear.
Anyone have any suggestions? We have checked the pump in gearbox is functioning but thats about it.
Cheers

Hmm, did you replace the filter?
if so the Oring may be out of position and dropping pressure.

Have you checked that the xyz switch is positioned correctly? ie the dash lcd reading the correct gear and the tell tails on the shifter quadrant lighting corresponding?

Torque converter or something in the transmission driveline has failed.
?
Checked the transfer case is not the culprit ? It's not in neutral is it ?

Yes checked not in neutral and have double checked xyz switch too. All lights and dash gear thingo are correct.
Its very strange that in all gears except reverse includin p and n want to drive forward but reverse just tries and does nothing. No neutral at all or park.

I think it is still worth maybe fitting another filter with new Orings.

your transfer case is in gear is it???
try hi & low, & look at your drive-train, seems funny you don't even have reverse if it were the transmission

The output shaft extension on the back of the gearbox hasn't come loose has it

Quite possible that a shift solenoid or 2 is stuck or sticking. When you engage a gear while motor running is there the slight movement of engagement or just a gradual take up of what little drive you have? Do you need more revs than normal to get a response?
Changing the oils and filter can cause gums and sludge to become disloged if the auto was very dirty.
