I believe all K series engines out the Freelanders are basically the same. Was the K series still sold in Australia in 2001? I thought they had been replaced by the V6 then but I am not sure.

The K series engine in different forms was/is also fitted the MGTF and Lotus Elise.

Blocks are the same but the heads and ecu are differant
The engine will fit in the car , but not useing some of the old parts with some of the new parts. Would have to all of the new parts o get it to work
Earley ones have a dissy and later ones don't

Took this from a UK forum - there was a picture too that didn't come across with the paste. The "tomcat" looked like a 1.8.

This is the link http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php'showtopic=1542

Is the Tomcat rover 2.0 lt turbo engine so different from the 1.8 block

Basicly would it fit a freelander engine bay and mounts
Would the gearbox be a bolt on fit

There very cheap on Ebay and bet it would make a old 1.8 freelander go like ---- of a stick

looking from above it all lookes basicly the same block ?????

Guess I should have referenced him - been chatting with him on another forum - seems he is the man to speak to as far as Freelanders are concerned.
