Your throughts on these is it true that the water gets recycled meaning that your car is getting sprayed with salty water of every car before you ??

Hmm... this doesn't sound too good to me style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif I'll drive home and wash it myself if this is the case 8O

nah if it's recycled, it's still going to have to be filtered and therefore the salt and impurities will have been removed... may not be to drinking standard but would definitely have to be to the standards of gray water... logically speaking anyway 8O

From a blurb about CarLovers:

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'> ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY
“CarLovers, good for your car, good for the environment”
Blue Green Algae and Red Tide are terms increasingly familiar around the world as excess phosphates and detergents raise the nutrient levels in our waterways. CarLovers has a massive investment in recycling technology and a commitment to phosphate-free biodegradable cleaners. Our research and development over many years has ensured we are at the forefront of carwash waste water recycling in Australia[/b][/quote]

Filtering wont remove dissolved salts etc.

If it did the NSW gov wouldn't be spending millions on a desalination plant.

Where does one find a underbody car wash???

There is a free car wash at Alcoa in Geelong at Point Henry. its on the Portarlington Rd end of the plant just outside the gate....... i used to rain test my Cooper there. Ohh like all BMC built cars..... it leaked...

I think we all need to do an Otways trip and then test the Free Car wash

Carbon filters will remove some but not all, the only way to remove all salts is to boil the water and cllect the steam and condense it into a seperate container, this provides the purest water you can get, or in chemistry lingo De-Ionised water, like what you buy to put in batteries. Matt

Depending on water restrictions
in your area..........

Buy a t-piece hose connector

connect the hose with a trigger nozzle to one outlet

set up the garden sprinkler on the lawn to the other outlet

turn it on flat out

sit the car over the top

wash the rest of the car with the hose

I like they way you think Gav. If you got one of those creepy crawly sprinklers you could park all of your vehicles in a line, go in for a BBQ after the trip and come out to have all the mud washed from under your vehicle. Matt

Whats your views on high or low pressure when washing under the car a guy gave me the idea that the high pressure forces water, and muck into holes were it can sit and rust ??

When I got letter of the month in overlander mag, I won a snatch strap and an underbody washing hose attachment. With the water restrictions here, the hose attachment could not be more useless. I have not even taken it out of the plastic bag, so do not ask how well it works.

Perhaps I will get to try it out one day, bus not in the near future, me thinks.

Just been out in the country.

Tank water from a year round spring.

Got all of the mud out, three days with a screwdriver into the holes and sprinkler on all day.

I think I put about 4000litres back into the river.

Still didn't get all the mud up on top of the transfer case.

And it rained before I got out so all the mud is back again.

Cheers

Simon.

Is that the Staun Massojet?

Welshman- high or low pressure will get water into all places, but high pressure will get all the mud off, and its mud staying wet after driving in the rain or washing with low pressure that sits there and causes rust. Puddles of water should dry pretty quickly, wet mud dries slower. Besides the answer to all questions is more power. style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif
