Okay people, your attention please!

I have spoken again with Stan Rogers from the Gold Coast 4WD Club about training dates for GCLRO and Sunday 13th November may be available - depending on how many sign up from the Gold Coast 4WD Club. I am calling Stan back on the 2nd November once they have had their meeting, as their members come first, although he thinks we should be good if we have about 7 cars.

Cost will be $25 per person style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif (not per vehicle) and they would prefer 1 person per vehicle for ease of training. I will need commitment at the earliest opportunity in order to book anything.

If the 13th November doesn’t suit, then we would be looking at some time in February 2006 before their normal training schedule resumes for the new year. Alternatively, we can organise our own day with Stan Rogers, but we would need at least 7 cars to attend – basically all founding members – and we would need to agree on a date very soon. My preference would be a separate GCLRO day but we will need some commitment from both members or perspective members in the next week or so in order to arrange a suitable date with Stan.....time is ticking :!: :!:

I for one can’t make the 13th November but will wait until I receive feedback from everyone before I speak again with Stan.

Please get back to me as soon as possible with at least one of the following responses so I can formulate a plan for us all.

1. Yes, for the 13th November
2. Would prefer a separate GCLRO session on another date such as........
3. Not interested in any training just now
4. Sometime in 2006 would suit better

Happy to discuss training details and specifics with anyone, so call me if you would like any more info, 0422 132 225, otherwise please PM me.

Aye, Mick on behalf of GCLRO

i think a dedicated day just for ourselves would suit better and if in feb would give us a chance to build our membership base.

But on another note, maybe a couple of us can still go on the 13th if they have the room so we're familiar with how the day operates etc. for our own day... in which case i'm interested in the 13th

Id like to go but I dont think my junk will be completed by then

I am happy to go either way, and I can jump in with sumone else. I dont mind doin it in november, febuary or at our own time.

Although i do agree that a day soley for our Land rovers would be nicer. As then we wouldnt have to wait and worry about all the less capable vehicles style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif

P.S. I wrote out a huge long email to both you and josh on the day you sent this thorugh and my PC stuffed up and ate it, i was too lazy to retype it, sorry i appoligise for my useless ness style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif

Yep, a rover training day in early 2006 is a good idea to allow some more members to jump on board.

Can anyone else make the 13 Nov?

13 November no good for me as I am going to Fraser Is. on the 14 Nov & will be too busy.
A dedicated GCLRO day would be better & maybe allow time for more members (myself included ) to join so early 2006 sounds good !!

i don't mind either way. If anyone is going in Nov i'll join in, plus i'd like to do the "landy" day in 2006. It is still relatively cheap entertainment. According to an earlier post, i'd agree that maybe some of us "early" members should do some training so long to assist other drivers on trips and days out until such time that they can also do the training. Bottom line, i'm in for both training days.

Hey Louis, yes we have a few keen for November 13th and I think most people would prefer a separate Landy day at a later date so will keep you all posted once I have spoken with Stan again. Cost will be the same for either day unless anything changes but will confirm nearer the time. Is you mate with the series 1 disco going to join GCLRO?

I hope so ,and he'll need the training too :?
Otherwise we take him for a short run to Ormeau and make him realise he needs training the hard way

So far I have Josh, Harry, Louis, Camo & Anthony keen for the driver training session on November 13th with the Gold Coast 4x4 club. I will be phoning Sean back from the Gold Coast 4x4 club on Wednesday 2nd Nov to confirm numbers so if anyone else wants to sign up, let me know before then please and we will hopefully squeeze everyone in on this session.

Cost again is $25 p/person style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif - will update you all at our meeting next Thursday!!

Hopefully a separate GCLRO training session to be organised for early 2006 style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif - will keep you posted.

Have there been any driver training days look at in the new year. If so I would be interested in attending as there is always something new to learn.

8O I have seen information on a new 4x4 Park at Beaudesert (City View) that looks like it will make for great day trips. The Mitsubishi 4x4 site have indicated that they will be running a trip there in February so it must be just about open. If I find anymore information on it ill post in it a new forum.

Yes we have looked at running another training day in the new year - perhaps around Feb and depending on numbers, only for the GCLRO club. Once we have a better idea of numbers, i'll be getting something organised so keep an eye on the forum

I've heard a bit of talk about the City View park and think we should be organising a club trip there soon - perhaps the 8th Jan?? Not heard to many reports about how it is terrain wise but a club trip should be a good way to find out https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

As long as I get to go on this one. Hate organising stuff and then not being able to go. I'll pencil in the 8th and go from there.....walked into that one

Alright, just came off the phone with Peter Marshall from City View 4x4 Camping & Recreation Park - thoroughly nice bloke indeed.

He is still in the process of doing work up there but has all his insurance etc in place and will welcome any individuals and clubs wishing to go and have fun.

Cost is about average - although he didn't really go into the pricing structure on the phone but basically as a guide, 1 car for the day would be about $20 and I think he said you would pay a small amount for additional passengers -should be reasonable though

8th of Jan is looking fine for him and all we need to to is call before to make sure he has room - he is looking into perhaps having a 60 vehicle limit in the park at any one time.

Will talk more tonight at drinks and post something in the trip section later but how does the 8th sound for everyone? If we don't have numbers then it would be a good recce trip for a few of us.

He has also had some help from other clubs with forming some camp grounds etc so maybe we might want to consider helping out where we can. I think we could safely call it a "local" park and he would appreciate the help getting it as 4x4 friendly as possible https://www.aulro.com/afvb/ Again will chat more about it tonight.

Hey Mick,

Any further updates on the LR only training the club was aiming for in Feb 06.??

Seeing as it's now Feb 06, I thought I should revive the topic.
I know there are a few new members, me included, who would be interested in learning how to do things the right way.

Any more info would be great, so I can ensure I keep the time free. https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

Cheers
Paul

Yep, this is on my list of things to do this week. Since we do have a number of new members and potential members, I will try and get something organised over the next few weeks if I can.

Watch this space.
