20 inch tyres on a D4

I'm picking up my 'new' (next?) car next week, a 2010 D4 HSE which is fitted with 20 inch wheels and tyres. I'm thinking about swapping them back to 19", the standard OEM for D4s. Thoughts please gents, hang onto the 20s or go back to the 19s? My reasons about reverting to the 19s is simple, if you're in a group/convoy and need a spare because your spare is damaged then you can always borrow one from one of the participants but not so if you're driving on 20s. Not having collected the car as yet, how good (or otherwise) is the range of 20" tyres?

You actually have a better tyre selection in 20" rather than 19".If you can afford to change,the GEO 18" wheels are the best choice,and the only 18" rims that will fit the 3.0lt.

Unless you're in a convoy of D4s you're not likely to see many 19s either.

I've put 275/45/20s on mine (just under 30 inch I think) and kinda wishing I'd looked for some 275/50 or even 55 ie 31 or 32 inch (would have some rubbing to sort) for better ride and airing down ability. Discos ride better than RRSs tho, so the ride might not be such an issue

I've got 20's with Pirelli scorpion zeros 255/50 - they are a m&s tyre - similar to an ht. I've done 2 of Gordon's courses now (mud & sand) and had no issues going anywhere he took us & didn't appreciably struggle any more than the guys withs at's.
Thing about these tyres are - it drives like a sports car on the bitumen (I know cause I drive it like I used to drive my mx5 [emoji51])

265 60 20, there are lots of tyres available. I currently run Nitto Terra Grapplers which are an A/ T with a load rating of 111.
For serious off road work I have M/Ts in 17" but the Nittos have proven to be quite capable.

265 50 20 does not rub. 265 60 20 I think probably would. I put the wrong aspect ratio in the original post it should have been 265 50 20.

I mentioned it in another thread recently, but I saw a RRS L320 (post-2010) running 285/50/20 Cooper Zeons and the guy reckoned there was no rubbing.

There is a guy in Perth running 285/50r20 General Grabbers. no rubbing.

I think if you have rear aircon you'll get rubbing on rear passenger side- need to re-route the lines - there's a post about it

285/50 R20 are 793mm OA, you should be fine to run these on the rear without any major rubbing. Only on full compression may you get a slight rub at the front of the rear wheel well.

Double check on the front on full lock particularly to the left as they most likely will rub on the wiring loom that runs along the chassis rail. The loom can be moved up out of the way quite easily with cable ties.
