An old bloke many years ago told me about a spot in Sydney Harbour to catch a feed of Dusky Flathead. He said to go there after the first frosts and they will be there.
This is in a hole 20 metres deep. He said to use white bait for bait on a two hook rig and drift with a run out tide. Well I have been going there every winter and he has been bang on right. Went there again yesterday with a mate and we bagged out - 10 each in two hours.
I have fished this spot in the summer and not caught one. They seem to come to this spot although all of them had nothing in their gut and do not have eggs on them so a mystery as to why they come there this time of year.
Most of them were in the 40-45cm range with one beauty my mate caught which as 60cm
