Can anyone please tell me how a hand brake knob if fitted to the top.
Also does a spring operate the ratchet pawl.
Thanks

There is a thin rod runs up the handle, and the knob is screwed onto the end of this. The rod and knob are spring loaded by a spring below the knob, and since the rod is attached to the ratchet, this spring loads the ratchet. There is a good pictiure in the parts book.

Thanks John.
Do the knobs come off easy ????
So if the knob is not fitted, the ratchet pawl doesn't work ????
The order would be, knob. spring, washer with the threaded rod through the middle, connected to a Second horizontal rod, then to the pawl.
Are the parts book on this site somewhere ????

I think the problem is likely to be that the knob has never been off, but I have only ever removed one and it came off easily. And no, without the knob and the spring it retains, the ratchet won't work.

Parts book is available in CD form from the "Shop" on this site, and helps keep this forum going.

Attached is the relevant picture.
