Does Pete Bell do a BAS for the D4?
I looked on his website and didn't come up with anything.

3.0 TriCores haven't been broken yet so all
Programming of them is done internally using Pogopins and BDM reads.
It even involves a tiny amount of soldering to the main ECU board...
It is an obvious modification - easily detected by marking of the ECU casing.
At this stage they haven't cracked the Protection to enable OBDII access and the encryption is unlikely to be broken anytime soon.
Suggest not going to radical on the higher spec 3.0 - BAS know the limits for reliable, consistent power and performance.

Sound advice again Tombie.
I'm sure the 183kw will be enough for now but it's an addiction you always search for more power, it's never enough :D
Hopefully Bell Auto will come up with a program, it would be nice to have full diagnostics like the Defender tune I had, using the phone App.

You can still do full diagnostics with IID tools. Just not full EEPROM writes.

Yes. Sure can - and If/when they crack the 3.0 the GAP tool can do remap upgrades.

The tri-codes have actually been cracked - around 4 months ago. I'm getting a writer in November to do non-invasive tunings here in WA.

I downloaded the data for the 3.0 and was informed by AlienTech that it's still a KessV2 job...
Same reason the 2.2 needs a new ECU that's been unlocked...
Some can't be accessed yet.
But if you've got something then that's excellent! Basil will be keen!

Would be a lot different internally.
If you can find the spec code you can look up the limits.

Our 3.0 SDV6 is in right now at Roo systems. Getting exhaust with ceramic coating, LLAMs and ECU. Just out of warranty so don't care what LR think. They reckon 240 kW 700 nm will be about the numbers. CBriise got his 322 Vogue (4.4 V8) done by them and was well happy. And they are Graemes recommended installer for LLAMs in/near Brisbane. Will post results on 320rrs section when done:D

240 / 700 to 270 / 800 is probably ok - I apparently run at that upper end.
But remember that all these figures are guesstimates, because any dyno figure is measuring wheel output. They then assume a set of parasitic losses to extrapolate to the crank figures, so that you have a "nice" comparison to the factory figures. Hence the wide range of claimed outputs

My thoughts are similar with the SDV6. 180/600 IIRC.
Though I'm sure if I drove a "tuned" version, I'd want more out of mine.

My trouble is... Owned two TDV8 sports before the SDV6 and Guess what, in comparison, more cubic inches and more horsepower plus better exhaust note was better😀 Is SDV6 adequate blah blah blah yes. But does it put that huge grin on my face.. Ahh no. So, maybe this will help. And, for those that ask, the dynamic stability control sway bar does do a better job than " dumb" traditional bars but at a cost of increased complexity/reliability

I think your missing the point there.
I know I love the power of the SDV6 and not having driven the V8, I am happy. If someone is used to a certain power and note then it can be hard to go back. I nearly bought an SSV Commodore because of the power and noise and was going to keep the D2 as my camping car but couldn't resist a D4.
Just because I want power in my 2.7t car doesn't mean I want to go Mach 2 around corners.
If you've ever driven a V10 R50 Touareg you would understand. I certainly don't need to wake up to myself!
There's nothing more addictive (in a car lol) than that sort of power. [emoji3]

Do i not recall a certain LR 4wd years ago in a mag artical that was highly modified with a pic of it smoking the wheels big time :burnrubber::p
Yes we all grow up at some stage of our life mainly due to the cost of repairs:eek:
It`s no different to chipping any other brand . Some are never happy with standard and want a little or a lot more .
I think the one`s who want a lot will never be happy and till they have melted their engine`s and then it will be blamed on the tuner for exceeding the safe limits.
If some want more good on them  Im in the little more than standard camp:angel:

It has nothing to do with racing around. But, when overtaking a B double the TDV8 was faster in 80-120 km range than my current SDV6. Am not looking for max performance out of it, just a bit more. I will be quite happy with that, and a better exhaust note.

Well got the car back. Very happy exhaust has nice growl and car is noticeably quicker I reckon on par with the TDV8. There is more exhaust noise but I don't find it unpleasant. Roo systems took a video of this install which they will be posting in 2/3 weeks

It is, there are two red lines and two green lines. I'm reading it as being the two green lines are pre-remap, and the two red lines are post remap. One line for power curve, one for torque.
So the lower of the two red lines is the post remap torque curve, to be read against the right hand axis.

No you got your numbers wrong. It is about 710nm and works out at about 220kw at flywheel which equates nicely with current model RRS SDV6. A nice little increase SWMBO likes it[emoji106] cost was a bit more than their standard quote for a D3/4 as my exhaust had to be modified from D3/4 plus I went ceramic coating.

Is the trip computer giving you any hints on likely economy?
Are you noticing any difference in gear changes? I guess they're somewhat independent.
Meccles
13th July 2016, 07:44 PM
Computer is showing an improvement in fuel economy by about 0.2 L/100ks so is better with more power. Re gear change while I don't think they have changed you can really hear them now. The engine note now means you can very clearly hear every change. I don't mind it it sounds less " anetheatised " than factory where aim was least NVH with minimum loss of power. But does it go better? Hell yeah:)

I suggest your next purchase be an EGT gauge...
Just to keep an eye on temps...
And shorten the service intervals...

Hey Meccles, how is your Disco going since the tune? Have you had any issues?
I just bought a MY16.5 TDV6 and want to do a tune and exhaust I'm in the ACT though so it would be with a Roo Systems agent which I'm a bit worried about as I know nothing about the agent good or bad.
Is your exhaust much louder at 120kmh? One of my favorite things about the car is refinement at speed. They do however have a nice throaty note standard I think.
I like everyone with half a brain know they're not race cars but more power and torque is always better and they are definitely capable of handling more power safely.
Did you end up installing a catch can and or an egr blank?
Hope you're enjoying your new beast.
Cheers
Meccles
8th October 2016, 06:31 PM
It's going really but if you like your refinement don't fit the exhaust. It can drone slightly at certain speeds. It has gotten better now it has carboned up a bit but is noticeably louder at certain speeds. Fuel economy very slightly better but definitely more get up and go.

Ahh that's a bit of a bummer, old mate told me that the only extra noise I'd notice would be turbo whistle. They said they would fit a stainless Genie exhaust.
Tombie

Laugh at how much people are paying for exhaust. $450 and mine was done, perfectly.
No need to replace the rear half it's already well over sized for the 3.0 at full song.
And it's Stainless - so just modify the front section...
